So I just came across this on youtube. You may have heard of this guy. Meet the "Big Dog" cargo robot, developed by Boston Dynamics.
It can handle difficult terrain such as steep hills, snow, ice, and rocks, being kicked by a grown man (and still staying upright), and it can even jump like a demented robot spider.
They say that it's only for cargo, but it's only a matter of time before these things are equipped with guns and glowing red eyes. And then it's all over.
I know that a walking robot isn't really more practical than a rolling one (ie one with tank treads) but they are so much more terrifying. I'm sure that was the intent.
