Cop Out Trailer Review: C-
Pros: Hilarious buddy-buddy black cop/white cop action; Bruce Willis.
Cons: Tracy Morgan! Yells! The Whole! Cop Out! Movie!; a lot of "Ow! My nuts!" jokes. If you liked "Date Movie," you're sure to love Cop Out.
Headed to the cinema this weekend? Of course you are. If you're looking for a lighthearted romp, check out Cop Out. It's cotton candy for your brain. If you're looking for a movie with emotional depth or you're not a fan of Tracy Morgan, you might be better off avoiding the Cop Out movie altogether.
You can check out the Cop Out trailer on the left. There is also a Cop Out red band trailer available
here.
Shockingly, Cop Out was directed by Kevin Smith – who usually only works on movies that are set in his own "universe." It's not a good sign when the director of a movie doesn't like it. Smith said, "Cop Out is not MY movie, it's a movie I was hired to direct."
On Rotten Tomatoes, Cop Out has a 17/100 rating, making it certified "rotten." Regardless, I'd wager that Cop Out will make a hefty $10 – 12 million this weekend. But that's enough bad talk. Let's take a look at the Cop Out trailer, second by second.
0:15 – Hmm… Cop Out is compared to Dirty Harry, Training Day, and The Departed.
0:30 – Tracy Morgan! Oh, that loveable stereotype…
0:37 – "Hello! The president is black now! We make decisions!" Subtle.
0:45 – At least they're car chases in Cop Out. Bullitt this ain't.
0:56 – A quick nod to Quentin Tarentino?
1:13 – Nice little slur against people who conceal carry firearms.
1:21 – Poor Seann William Scott. He's been playing Stifler for ELEVEN YEARS.
1:50 – OK, I admit it. The chip joke made me laugh.
2:10 – The knock-knock joke is dirty as hell. Ya…
Well, check out the Cop Out trailer and decide for yourself. If you're in Jr. High and you're looking for something to sneak into, you won't want to miss this movie. If you're over the age of 18, you probably should save your 10 bucks for something better. Skip Cop Out.
