Minnesota Now Paying For Human Cloning

Minnesota: State of Inhumane Cloning
Written by
"Scientists who create cloned human embryos typically dissect and kill the human clones within days after they are alive. It is not known how many human clones will be created and killed by various institutions in Minnesota, including the University of Minnesota, or which ones will be state funded, as there are no reporting requirements to disclose the number of deaths, LaLonde said."

"ST. PAUL — The State of Minnesota is now involved in the human cloning business. After the state Legislature failed to re-authorize a ban on state funded human cloning during the special session,
it is now legal to use taxpayer dollars to create cloned human embryos."

Minnesota: the Land of 10,000 Lakes, farming, mining, forestry, and recreation...
and now on the cutting edge of Human Cloning. Such a resourceful State, so why not the manufacturing of human parts and cells? And as far as a moral dilemma they can't really be called babies or human... if only grown in a lab... right? Good grief!

I say if these "scientists" want body parts and cells, they should donate their own...
start slicing and dicing lab-boys and see how they like it! I wonder if Senomyx/Pepsico might branch out into cloning... seeing as they are getting the heat over using aborted babies, in the process of artificial flavoring?

We are now getting close to the capability of a person cloning his/her own cells to create new body parts for himself/herself. This is of course much better than having organ transplants because there would be no rejection issues. http://www.fractalindividual.com/Subscri...

The question is, if the legislature banned funding for human cloning would that also ban experiments that would allow a person to clone his or her own cells?

I think in the future if you have a heart attack, get shot, or have some sort of accident we will be able to build up a new organ with a 3d inkjet printer. Can you imagine watching your new replacement heart growing before your eyes?http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/06/eveningnews/main3799803.shtml
9 months ago: Al,

The issue is about cloning, and all of it's ramifications. Stem cell research may be a motivator for the use of cloned fetuses... but this issue of cloning a human, is the slippery slope no one should be on. When considering killing a living human life (which is involved in stem cell research), will it be less human if it was a clone? It would seem this is how they want to "fly under the radar" on this one. Right now they are legally bound not to end a human life... but what if it was a clone?
