From the title, you might presume a touch of sarcasm but AP is reporting that Mexican drug smugglers are increasingly peddling a form of ultra-potent heroin that sells for as little as $10 a bag and is so pure it can kill unsuspecting users instantly.
While I imagine the drug smugglers aren't too keen on killing their customers off (at least until such time as they are completely destitute), the greater potency allows the user to achieve a high by snorting or smoking the drug as opposed to having to use the typical injection method. According to the article, snorting or smoking is an "attractive" alternative for teenagers and suburbanites who don't want the HIV risk or the track marks on their arms that come with repeated injections.
Since the United States has long lost the war on drugs by treating the problem as a selective morality issue, leave it to the drug smugglers to quickly kill off the victims and let the existing junkies and junkies to be know that you can die sooner rather than later.
