Media Blackout Tie - Holocaust 2011 vs Nuclear Winter 2011

In the emerging battle for the honor of being the most suppressed news story of 2011 in America, two of the most unsolvable problems facing the United States are running neck-to-neck in ratings, while still retaining a noticable lack of media attention:

1a. Holocaust 2011 - the intentional starvation of millions of 99ers and their families via the denial of Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits. President Obombasta's current solution to the 99er dilemma is to ignore us and hope that we die.

1b. Nuclear Winter 2011 - even Punxsutawney Phil could not predict six or more centuries of nuclear radiactivity in the United States from the Fukushima disaster. President Obombasta's current solution has been to divert attention by waging an Un-Constitutional War on Lybia.

Which do you think deserves the award for the most ignored problem facing America?

To compare your expectation that the government feed, clothe, and pay your rent while you look to a job to the millions of murders of jews and others under the rule of Adolf Hitler is just inflammatory and insulting. Call it discrimination, call it crazy, call it whatever you like. However, calling it a holocaust is not only incorrect, but down right selfish. I don't recall any 99ers being marched to concentration camps, abused, and starved only to be sent to the gas chamber.

It's kind of like using "Woodstock-1999" to describe the lame attempt at using a historical phenomenon to market something that paled in comparison to the real thing.

Usage Note: Holocaust has a secure place in the language when it refers to the massive destruction of humans by other humans. Ninety-nine percent of the Usage Panel accepts the use of holocaust in the phrase nuclear holocaust. Sixty percent of the Panel accepts the sentence As many as two million people may have died in the holocaust that followed the Khmer Rouge takeover in Cambodia. But because of its associations with genocide, people may object to extended applications of holocaust. When the word is used to refer to death brought about by natural causes, the percentage of the Panel accepting drops sharply. Only 31 percent of the Panel approves the sentence In East Africa five years of drought have brought about a holocaust in which millions have died. In a 1987 survey, just 11 percent approved the use of holocaust to summarize the effects of the AIDS epidemic. This suggests that other figurative usages such as the huge losses in the Savings and Loan holocaust may be viewed as overblown or in poor taste. · When capitalized Holocaust refers specifically to the destruction of Jews and other Europeans by the Nazis and may also encompass the Nazi persecution of Jews that preceded the outbreak of the war.

How is it that a Pastor...any Pastor...can be unemployed with so many souls needing to be saved? How is it a Pastor...any Pastor...can place their own selfish interests above those that need saving? How is it that we are now...

I think it is plain foolish to sit there and laugh at the World when everything is falling apart in front of your eyes. Is anyone here actively doing anything for the people who need help? Of course not. Why are you criticizing so much for? You aren't making a difference. I am. I don't have what you probably have , but I have enough smarts and caring to help others and have results that make a difference. All of you braggers don't do one thing to help your Countrymen. You sit and scoff and laugh. Good for you guys. That makes you really special. Pick on the 99ers under a microscope every day. Save your pennies you will need them for the next disaster. If you don't think that we are not headed in a bad direction at the pace that we are going, or the arrogance of our Government ignoring important issues to keep this Country stable and thriving, then laugh your heads off it will be for a short time.
13 months ago: TheLegendTomWing,

"Poor taste" is intentionally starving and freezing to death millions of hard-working, tax-paying American citizens (99ers) while wasting trillions of tax-dollars to foment and fund the prelude to World War III.

"Poorer taste" is intentionally infecting millions of people with climatically delivered nuclear contamination.

Out Of The Box,

It's OK to use words in America - we're still a country that promotes freedom of speech.

The Cypress Gang,

I do have a serious answer.

Holocaust 2011 has metastasized across America like a malignant tumor, and all Americans (99ers or not) face the serious threat of nuclear contamination as I type.

The innocent raindrops falling across the fruited plain all contain serious and deadly amounts of radioactive particles.

Maybe you should take a trip to the holocaust museum sometime. I don't think you understand how offensive you are truly being.

No one here is trying to tell you that what you are going through is easy, but it is not as hard as being sent to concentration camps. It cannot compare to the story of Anne Frank, and countless others who had to hide from the Nazis. These people were tortured--physically tortured, and then brutally murdered. Using their plight as a means to get people to talk about your problems is disgusting and wrong.

Come to think of it, the US backs Israel, and the Jewish faith. Maybe the reason you folks aren't getting your tier 5 is that you are coming across as Anti-Semitic. I can tell you now, I don't feel that anyone who takes the holocaust so lightly deserves anything from the federal government or me.
Also, Freedom of Speech does not mean there are not consequences to your actions. If you yell fire in a crowded theater and someone gets trampled to death you can be held criminally liable. The same principle applies here.
Finally, the levels of radiation we are getting in rain and such is within safe levels of exposure. You would get more from standing out in the sun for 15 minutes. If this was just a metaphor, then explain why my father was able to get another job (after being out of work for years!). Clearly it is an issue, but not one that you cannot dig yourself out of.

Maybe if you spent less time making anti-semitic remarks and more time looking for work you wouldn't have this problem.

13 months ago: Legend that is why I keep saying I don't like the word.
My good friend and her husband years ago when I met them, they are both gone now, were stamped with the concentration numbers. There is a deep sorrow there that can't be forgotten generation down to generation. People I worked with through the years had fear of this happening again. I never thought it could happen in America. I don't believe it will. I wouldn't say that this is the reason people aren't getting Tier 5. I don't want to see kids starving and not receiving an education. Greed and power is doing that. It is so obvious all the lies. The Banks did this to the people please remember that. Also, we shouldn't have to deal with radiation at all. It should never have happened. We don't know the extent of it yet. Sunny

He is thinking he created some private sector jobs and unemployment is down and that makes him a solid winner. How is he going to get in office again if he doesn't clean up the unemployment issues. Too many millions are unhappy with the way they are being treated. We are swept under the rug again while he off playing his war games. Sunny

I still understand where PD is coming from. I criticize the word itself. I do not for one moment want to dim his freedom of speech. Why are the ordinary people underdogs because they are out of work? What does anybody know about anyone? Why is it that certain people on this site feel so high and mighty and judge people?
13 months ago: TheLegendTomWing,

Parsing my words does not make them wrong.

"Holocaust" is neither an expletive nor prohibited by RantRave.

Your extreme reaction to the phrase "Holocaust 2011" is a red flag indicating that deep in your inner mind, you know that I'm one hundred percent correct in dubbing it so.

sunny2,

President Obombasta needs four more years to complete his role in the economic and moral destruction of America, the start of World War III in the Middle East, and the birth of the New World Order.

Unemployment rates are down because 99ers are no longer eligible to apply. As the number of 99ers increases, the reported "Unemployment Rate" will actually go down.

Meanwhile, millions of 99ers and their families are being evicted from their homes and apartments, with nowhere to go, and nothing to eat.

The Cypress Gang,

13 months ago: Pastor I agree that the treatment of the 99r's and the disaster at Fukushima are tragedies but should not be equated with the Holocaust.

It is a tragedy that this country is no longer a Democracy and that the plight of the poor and unemployed goes unnoticed by the lawmakers because money is the only thing they listen to.

It is a tragedy that Republicans insisted on throwing $800 billion to the rich which doubled the deficit and then they have the gall to blame our public servants for the destruction of the economy that they caused, and then try to balance the budget by increasing taxes on the middle class and by cutting any programs that benefit the poor.

If we lived in a real Democracy we would raise the taxes on the rich because that is what 80% of the people want. We would cut the waste in the Military instead of cutting Medicare because that is what 70% of the people want.

If we lived in a real Democracy we would shut down the Indian Point Nuclear plant because it is rated the # 1 most dangerous plant, and because it has 1/8th the population of the country, 20 million people, within 50 miles of the 40 yr. old plant. But we won't shut down that plant even though that is what the people and the governor wants, because that plant is a cash cow.

If the government was really interested in the citizens, it wouldn't have allowed deep sea drilling to resume after an independent study found that ALL of the blowout preventers had basic design flaws that makes them unlikely to work.

Paster the only way the politicians will do anything to help the 99r's is if you can organize the 95% of the people who are being screwed by the rich and the corporations.

Start Preaching!

Government turns away. They are not only hurting 99ers they are hurting everyone in this economy. Sooner or later all the cards are going to be played out. Everyone is going to lose.
13 months ago: Altruist,

If we lived in a real democracy, Holocaust 2011 would not be happening in America.

If we lived in a real democracy, "W" and his heir, President Obombasta, would have never been allowed to advance their demonic plans to instigate WWIII.

If we lived in a real democracy, votes would be counted by hand instead of pre-programmed digital voting machines.

All nuclear facilities around the world should immediately be shut down.

Nuclear power is NOT safe.

I don't get it when everyone criticizes the 99ers so much when it is all part of the actions of this Government. What do you think ,we like not having jobs? Finding work is harder at this time. The employers are all wise to cheating the people. I'm for the rights of the 99ers because it wasn't their fault what has happened. The Government must love how it has pitted one group of people against the other. They divide us. Everyone here seems to blungeon us over and over again. It's killing me how nobody cares two cents. Isn't that that the result of anger against one another. Money seems to play a big role in this site, but when it is wasted on wars and other demented issues, it is okay with everyone. You have another word for holocaust perhaps that can be used instead. Some people feel that is a way toward getting at the bottom of things. This is unreal how all of you can be so hardened to others. Think of your own families, your children, if they are hurting from this economy. What's the sense of even talking to any of you.

He is the one that people should be outraged with. He is reponsible for the people being beheaded. You don't think anything about it, but you criticize the PD who is an American and believes in this Country but is upset the way things are being done. Oh, he said the word holocaust. You don't think that ministers actions could be seen as the beginning of holocaust. You've got blinders on. Wonder why. Those are the crazy pastors Cypress who don't care about their flock or saving people's souls. Sunny

They are the easiest group in the world to hypnotize.

Who are we trusting our future to at moment.....? Tell me. I'll tell you liars and cheaters that are taking rights away from us and are denying our children of a proper education. These are the same children what have to foot the tax bill for the future for years and years. This group of people don't have any say because no one is leading them. No one is setting a good example. It takes one person. Possibly a President who can set them on the right path. From what I have been seeing, the future of America is in the hands of destructive leaders who are sealing our fate. The youth of America and I'm speaking of those who are given the right to vote have to step up. That is their obligation. Just like we stood up when it was needed. I'm not talking about idiots. There are idiots running our Government. Gone are the high ideals and lofty rhetoric that doesn't exist any more for anyone. When they are left holding the bag, they have to stand up and fight. It's always been that way. Nothing is so different. We protest and protest. The only people that are going to be heard are the youth because Government is destroying the Community from 35 and up. They aren't listening to anyone, and they are stripping America dollar by dollar. I don't care about self-styled intellectuals of the university campus. I find them a bunch of air heads. What about these people like Boehner and friends and the things they say and do. We are facing self -styled graduates of these universities in our Leaders. They don't hypnotize me or anyone else with half a brain.

The Democrats are the ones who had a lock on both the legislative and executive branches and STILL could not pass a budget. The Republicans are trying to reduce the deficit and maybe even keep my grandchildren from having a crushing mountain of OUR debt on their shoulders.

The Dems holler for "bi-partisanship" and "cooperation" but how many times did Pelosi and Reid ram through legislation solely on the basis of having a majority? Heck! Speaker Boehner has offered a way to give them another week AND fund DOD through the end of the fiscal year. THAT is what His Most Divine Majesty Barack the First is threatening to veto.

Someone needs to remind the President that - as HE HIMSELF told the Republicans and all who voted against him in 2008 - elections have consequences. The Dems lost last fall but they STILL want to to call the tune. What happened to "majority rule" in the legislature? The will of the people is for the Legislature to balance the budget, reduce the deficit and work on paying down the national debt. What part of that don't the Dems understand?

13 months ago: Pastor, either you are being intentionally disingenuous or are just almost terminally ignorant. What is happening to the 99ers is unpleasant but not in any way shape or form comparable to the holocaust.

But worse, you managed to utterly miscategorize the Fukushima incident as "Nuclear Winter 2011". Do you even KNOW what the definition of "Nuclear Winter" is?? According to Wikipedia,
"Nuclear winter is a predicted climatic effect of nuclear war. It has been theorized that severely cold weather and reduced sunlight for a period of months or even years could be caused by detonating large numbers of nuclear weapons, especially over flammable targets such as cities, where large amounts of smoke and soot would be ejected into the Earth's stratosphere.

Similar climatic effects can be caused by a comet or asteroid impact, also sometimes termed an impact winter, or of a supervolcano eruption, known as a volcanic winter."
THAT is the definition of "Nuclear Winter".

I WAS able to find some dimwit using the term in a different (and IMHO totally incorrect) sense. Here: http://tinyurl.com/nukewintr (URL shortened via TinyURL) a guy was using it in the sense of a lack of building of nuke plants.
"I believe that it is fair to say the world is entering a nuclear winter. That means a very dramatic reduction in nuclear reactor construction and planning.

It goes without saying that the climate for the construction of new nuclear plants in the United States has entered a deep freeze. It is hard to imagine the American public warming up to nuclear power again until years after the Japanese disaster has been fully contained and made safe. And that's not happening anytime soon."
I have no idea in what sense you were attempting to use the phrase but in any case you used it incorrectly which IS, of course, your sovereign right as a U.S. citizen.
13 months ago: I hope this helps a little. Let me think here,......how do I say it,....Analytical. The Analytical Thought Process is an advanced form of problem solving. The process identifies two or more seperate persons, places, or things although not soley committed to verbs,.......anyway,...it takes two or some obviously unrelated items and shows you the lines of tangent. The process can be learned. This is basic Einstein theory of realitivity........or something like that. Just like a butterfly that farts in the pacific and the result is acid rain in the Sudan. Or,......maybe I am wrong and it is simply a metaphor because the truth is so disturbing to the average human mind that you may be put in the "SPECIAL" room and find out,.........ya know,.......this room's not special and there are not any cookies in here. Metaphors are nice,...sometimes. Metaphors help you feel good when you have no reasons to feel good. A beautiful Metaphor can make you smile as you are informed that your family is dead,........... your property is burned,.................you are financially ruined and God doesn't like you much these days. A beautiful metaphor can hold an enemy captive with a song,.............to make it so much easier to kill it,.......ya know,......it,.....the enemy or whatever. Or maybe I am just not understanding things the way most people who make decisions that form the boundry of my life. They must be,......like really,....really super smart. Them people not only think outside the box they get to live there too. It has been and for the forseeable future always will be,......NEED that drive's a persons thought process. There is GOOD NEED and BAD NEED inside the box,.............and those outside the box have need and that's why there are people in the box. It is a vicious circle of life,......that's what I think,......and what do I know anyway,.......because I am only 39 day's old. I hope this soothes the feathers a little,..
............or scales,.......or whatever,.....ya'll have a good one.

Poetic license is a tool REAL poets (i.e. those of us who have actually published our work) use to FACILITATE communication. Your utterly improper use of the terms "holocaust" and "nuclear winter" not only does not facilitate communication, it actually hinders it. And calling what you did "poetic license" shows a most PROFOUND lack of understanding of what artistic license (of which poetic license is merely a subset) is. The online dictionary defines "poetic license" as
"The liberty taken by an artist or a writer in deviating from conventional form or fact to achieve a desired effect."
which is not at all what you did. If you HAD been trying to achieve a specific effect, I seriously misdoubt anyone here has a clue what it was - YOURSELF INCLUDED!

Additionally, use of the term "holocaust" as you did makes light of the real deal and is an horriffic insult to survivors of the REAL holocaust.

Why bother posting if you are going to deliberately throw up roadblocks to communication?

Oh, and what, pray tell, do you mean by "United States" in your assertion to sunny2 that blockquote>"We all have an obligation to do whatever we can to preserve the United States." In 1971 and again in 1973 and 1978 I swore an oath to protect and defend the CONSTITUTION from all enemies foreign and domestic. I also swore allegiance to the Republic. I'm not sure how those two dovetail. But I very much want to know what YOU believe our obligation is.
