I spent a portion of this past weekend surfing through the television to find some form of entertainment to keep my mind off of politics. After a marathon weekend last week of Health Care Overload, I kind of needed a break.

Saturday brought me a basketball game or two and that great Robert De Niro / Chazz Palminteri movie "A Bronx Tale" (one of my personal favorites). As I flipped through the channels I caught a glimpse of the Tea Party movement, with people gathering in Searchlight, Nevada....In keeping with my intent to shun politics for the weekend, I opted against watching the news clippings.

Sunday brought me a few more basketball games, and a DVR recording of a Truck Series Race, which I have to admit, was very fun to watch. Right before I turned in for the night, I caught a glimpse of an old movie that my daughter was watching; it was the 1931 adaptation of Peggy Webling's Frankenstein, staring Boris Karloff... I just wasn't feeling like an old movie, so I kissed the family good night and said my evening prayers.

At 2:19:34 I was jolted awake from a horrific dream....Or was it a realization?

Here, you be the judge...

(And we're not even going to mention the fact that the time 2:19:34 was the exact Democratic breakdown on the Health Care vote... (219 For / 34 Against)...but I digress.)

As I tossed and turned in the bed for the first part of the night, I kept seeing the gathering in Searchlight, Nevada from Saturday night and the Frankenstein movie from Sunday Night. The two images had ghostly similarities to each other. The images toggled back and forth in my head, the longer I slept, the faster they toggled, and then it hit me like a bolt of lightning...

It's almost as eerie as the similarities between the Kennedy and Lincoln Assassinations...

Frankenstein -
Frankenstein's monster is an eight feet tall, hideously ugly creation, with translucent yellowish skin pulled so taut over the body that it "barely disguised the workings of the vessels and muscles underneath"; watery, glowing eyes, flowing black hair, black lips, and prominent white teeth. The monster attempts to integrate himself into human social patterns, but all that see him shun him. This feeling of abandonment compels him to seek revenge against his creator. (Dr. Frankenstein)

Tea Party Movement –
The Tea Party is a hideously ugly creation, with translucent yellowish skin, and their **** are pulled so taut that it barely distinguishes the working man from the crazy revelers; glowing eyes, flowing black and blond hair and it includes prominent white people. The movement attempts to integrate itself into human social patters, but all that see it, shun it. This feeling of abandonment compels it to seek revenge against its creator. (The Republican Party)

Frankenstein -
As depicted by Shelley, the creature is a sensitive, emotional creature whose only aim is to share his life with another sentient being like himself. The novel portrays him as immensely intelligent and literate, having read Paradise Lost, Plutarch's Lives, and The Sorrows of Young Werther. He is driven by despair and loneliness to acts of cruelty and murder.

Tea Party –
As depicted by Limbaugh, the movement is a sensitive, emotional movement whose only aim is to share their lives with other sentient beings like themselves. Conservative Media portrays them as immensely intelligent having read Michelle Malkin's Culture of Corruption: Obama and His Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks and Cronies, Glenn Beck's Common Sense; The Case Against an Out Of Control Government and Bill O'Reilly's Culture Warrior. They are driven by despair and loneliness to acts of cruelty and vandalism.

Frankenstein -
Full of grief and despair, Frankenstein's monster retreats to the mountains to find peace within himself. The monster approaches Frankenstein on top of the mountain and insists that Frankenstein hear his plight. Here the monster tells Frankenstein his story and pleads with him to create a female equivalent to himself so that he can hide from humanity with one of his own kind. Frankenstein agrees, but relents just before finishing the mate, aghast at the possibility of creating a race of monsters. Enraged, the creature swears he will destroy everything Frankenstein holds dear. The creature's final words before fleeing are "I will be with you on your wedding night!"

Tea Party -
Full of grief and despair after losing their country, the movement takes to the road to find peace with themselves. The movement approaches the Republican Party on top of the Hill and insists that the Republicans hears their plight. Here the movement tells the Party their story and pleads with them to create a female equivalent for themselves so that they can hide from humanity with one of their own kind. The Party agrees, but relents just before finishing the mate, aghast at the possibility of creating a nation of monsters. Enraged, the movement swears that they will destroy the Party and everything they hold dear. The movement's final words before fleeing are, "I will be with you on election night!"

Frankenstein -
From the beginning the monster is rejected by everyone he meets. He realizes from the moment of his "birth" that even his own creator could not be around him; this is obvious when Frankenstein says "…one hand was stretched out, seeming to detain me, but I escaped…". The creature tries to forget about this and move on, but everyone who sees him runs away in fear. Upon seeing his own reflection, he realizes that he too cannot stand to see himself.

Tea Party –
From the beginning the movement is rejected by everyone with a brain. They realize from the moment of their failed "birther movement" that even their own Party could not be around them; this is obvious when on CNN's State of the Union, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind) denounced the use of the movement's slurs and actions "in the strongest terms." And when House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said on NBC's Meet the Press that the movement's "isolated incidents were reprehensible." The Tea Party tries to forget about this and move on, but everyone who sees them, runs away in fear. Upon seeing their own reflection, they realize that they too cannot stand to see themselves.

Frankenstein -
Taking refuge from another angry mob in an underground crypt, the Monster spies Pretorius and his cronies Karl and Ludwig, breaking open a grave. The henchmen depart; Pretorius stays to enjoy a light supper. The Monster approaches Pretorius, and learns that Pretorius plans to create a mate for him.

A storm rages as final preparations are made to bring the Bride to life. Her bandage-wrapped body is raised through the roof. Lightning strikes a kite, sending electricity through the Bride. Henry and Pretorius lower her and realize their success. "She's alive! Alive!" Henry cries. They remove her bandages and help her to stand. "The bride of Frankenstein!" Doctor Pretorius declares.

Tea Party –
Taking refuge from another angry mob in an underground bunker, that houses the likes of Mark Levine, the movement spies Karl (Rove), McCain, Limbaugh, Hannity and their cronies breaking open a Wasillian grave. The cronies depart but McCain stays with Limbaugh, who is enjoying a light supper, consisting of six chickens, a side of beef and a diet coke. The movement approaches McCain and Limbaugh and learns that the two plan to create a mate for them.

A storm rages as final preparations are made to bring the Bride to life. Her moose-skinned wrapped body is brought to the Lower 48. Lightning strikes a kite sending electricity to the Bride. McCain and Limbaugh praise her and realize their success. "She's alive! Alive!" Limbaugh cries. He loads her with talking points and a Facebook Account and helps her to stand. "The Tea Party Leader – Sarah Palin!" Limbaugh declares.

Frankenstein -
The excited Monster sees his mate and reaches out to her. "Friend?" he asks. The Bride, screaming, rejects him. "She hate me! Like others," the Monster says dejectedly. As Elizabeth races to Henry's side, the Monster rampages through the laboratory. "Go! You live!" he tells Henry and Elizabeth. To Pretorius and the Bride, he says, "You stay. We belong dead." While Henry and Elizabeth flee, the Monster, shedding a tear as the Bride hisses at him, pulls a lever that destroys the laboratory and tower. Thus destroying them all...

It was at this point that I awoke with a scream and in a cold sweat!

Did Mary Shelley see the modern Tea Party in the year 1818? Is this how the Party comes to an end...?

Or was it all just a dream...?

Nothing More, Nothing Less.

26 months ago: I had the same experience, but Frankenstein was the health care bill.

Cobbled together from bits and pieces and snips, Dr. Frankenstein and his cohorts, err, assisstants, in the bowels of their laboratory give it an unnatural life. All who realize its dangerous potential run screaming, except for the little naive child, who is inexperienced in the ways of monsters. The townsfolk eventually band together and hem the monster up in the capitol, err, Frankenstein's castle, where the atrocity kills Dr. Frankenstein, and brings the castle down around him, in flames.

I'm sure the OP didn't want it "flipped" so adroitly...nor with a greater sense of correct application.

The Tea Party is indeed scary as is the bride Palin. At some point most of the people that make up the Tea Party will tire of being manipulated by the Republican party, and when faced with reality, will either fade away or form another minor libertarian party like the John Birchers.

I thought it entertaining when a reporter cornered a Tea Partier the other day and tried to find out if they actually had any solutions to the nation's problems. When asked how to reduce the National Debt and balance the budget, they said reduce waste and earmarks. When it was pointed out that was only about 1% of the budget, and asked if they wanted the big ticket items like Medicare, Social Security, or The Military budget to be cut, they said wait, I don't want those cut. When pointed out that further tax cuts would only increase the deficit, they said I changed my mind, I don't want to be in the Tea Party after all.

thanks for the comment and read, I saw the same and laughed. It's a classic example of dancing to the beat but not paying attention to the words.
Don't get me wrong, I'm more of an idependent in thought and action, I'm just amazed because no "fringe" in history has gained so much legitimacy. It's historical, funny and tragic.
