Marijuana Dispensary Owner Charged With Illegal Sales

In a Lake Forest, California marijuana dispensary, the owner has been charged with illegally selling marijuana and then taking the profits and laundering them through banks.

It seems that Mark Gregory Moen, the owner and operator of 215 Agenda, a marijuana dispensary is charged with 38 counts of money laundering, one count of possession of money over $100,000 obtained from illegal sales of marijuana, three counts of selling marijuana illegally and last but not least, a sentence of enhancement because he was laundering more than $150,000.

Having previous charges that had been brought to Moen from other crimes, the owner could be facing up to 39 years in prison. Currently he is being held on $500,000 bail. That bail must be proven that it comes from a legal and legitimate source.

California law allows qualified patients with a physician's recommendation and their primary caregivers to "collectively or cooperatively ... cultivate marijuana for medical purposes," according to section 11362.775 of the state's health and safety code. It is not believed that Moen was doing that. Authorities believe he was selling marijuana illegally.

Again, we see that if there is a profit to be made in a business, opportunistic people will find a way to corrupt it. We all know that illegal business is done everyday, however, this does put another nail in the coffin of those who are striving to legalize marijuana. News stories like these are easily ramped up. Let's see how it may or may not effect November's initiative.

Why is the Orange County Sheriff and the DA wasting tax payer dollars on some sort of crusade against something that most people do not care about anymore? This is preventing sick people from getting their preferred medicine. Think about that!

There is going to be a ballot vote in November to make cannabis about the equivalent to alcohol. Since we are going broke and need new revenue this law will likely pass. So again, why is law enforcement wasting our tax money and their own limited resources? Medical marijuana is LEGAL! They are trying to find ways around our laws (like a criminal) to persecute sick people and the providers of their medicine.

When marijuana is up for vote in November please leave your emotions at home and remember this fact:

There are only two groups of people who benefit from prohibition of cannabis. LAW ENFORCEMENT (police, prisons, courts, lawyers, etc) and DRUG DEALERS (street level to the drug cartels that are so violent that murder is an everyday occurrence and the destabilization of the entire country possible.

Choose to make the moral choice and put an end to the killing. Choose to make the financially smart choice and have us all benefit from the tax revenue instead of just the two mentioned groups. Choose to let US citizens have a choice if they prefer a natural medicine provided by mother nature (god if you prefer) to something that is man made in a lab.

You are so right, but here is the proof of why they don't want pot made legal.

Right now most drug sentences are for pot. Your kids are getting 5 to 20 years, just so they can make billions from their imprisonment.

Once you read these two files, the corruption and treason is exposed.

Your children have paid the price to feed these crooks.

It is time you take responsibility and learn the truth.

If these dispensary owners are looking at charges, then every dispensary owner in the Golden State should be on red alert, because they will certainly be next. It's like I always say, law enforcement will take advantage of vague rules and laws any chance they get. With case law, state law, local ordinances, and federal law all in on a different page, the citizens get the shaft. If the state is going to approve a program, the least the legislature can do is make sure it is being run properly. Something needs to be done at the state level, or law enforcement will continue to take advantage of the situation.

As far as how this will affect the November iniative, it is going to fire people up and mobilize voters who are sympathetic towards legalization.

(I am not a user of medical marijuana, but know several people with illnesses that patronize the dispensary). I can't say for sure that illegal things didn't happen, but it REALLY sounds like law enforcement went over the top with all of the charges to make sure that at least something will stick in court. That said, I find it unbelievable that this is all that our police / agents have to do. This past week here in California 2 young girls were found raped, murdered and buried. They supposedly have the suspect in custody. It seems to me that if our resources were spent trying to PREVENT these types of horrific and devastating crimes instead of busting people for having a joint, we would all be much better off. My advice to the law enforcement community would be that they had better get focused on serious issues that affect the safety of the people. Most police forces moto is to "serve and protect". I personally don't feel that I need to be served and protected from dispensaries. How come recently it took 15 banks being robbed locally before we were able to catch the perpetrator a month or two ago? Oh...... I forgot, we probably had vast resources tied up trying to figure out how we could bust the owner of this dispensary. GET FOCUSED! And oh by the way, don't waste your time putting initiatives on this coming Novembers ballot asking for more money to further "protect and serve" us. If this is all you (law enforcement) have to do with your time, you are already obviously already over staffed.
