The head liberal honcho, Hussein Obama, said:

"Let me say this as plainly as I can. If you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired just like always," Obama said in a speech. "Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it has ever been. Because starting today, the United States will stand behind your warranty."

President Obama said it, and HE MEANT IT. He gave his word.

On the following website, http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/1..., it is being reported that General Motors is refusing to honor warranties for more than 400,000 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2007 and 2008 model years.

GM is taking the position that its recent bankruptcy filing (which by the way was a corrupt and a blatently unconstitutional bankruptcy proceeding) allows GM to ignore those warranties and say the warranties no longer exist.

GM is saying the warranties are no longer "safe".

The problem with the Government Motor's cars is that a defect in "rear spindle rods" causes rear tires to wear out after just 6,000 miles.

GM is only agreeing to fix the problems for sold police cars. GM is telling the rest of America to go fly a Chinese made kite.

If Obama's lips are moving, he is lying.

9 months ago: Obama cant be telling even more lies can he?.
Its abit fishy only honouring police cars, there couldnt of been a corrupt deal done high up in the organisation could there?.
As thet have gone bankrupt does that mean you can not sue them over the warranties?
9 months ago: Dude, a tid bit of information. Over here you can't sue the goverernment. Since the government owns 50.00001 + percent of the companies....

You figure it out.
9 months ago: Obama (during 2008 Campaign) also said he was going to end both wars and bring the troops home, and of course he didn't.

We should not have bailed out GM. They should have closed out all brands except Chevrolet and Cadillac and restructured. Chrysler let go off Plymouth and Ford let go of Mercury, so GM could downsize to just two divisions as well. Ford took NO government money, so maybe we should all support Ford.

Of course TARP was Bush's idea and Obama just went along with it.
9 months ago: Whoa!

I agree with you. (except that part about Obama. He "muliplied" it exponentially.)

Whoa!

What did you do with culley?
9 months ago: "TARP was Bush's idea and Obama just went along with it" ?

Who asked Bush to push Congress to release TARP money to be funneled by Obama?

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=n...

No?
9 months ago: TARP was to save Wall Street as they were "too big to fail". Most of what TARP did was take over bad assets from the banks that created them in the first place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troubled_As...

It started under Bush and Obama went along and continued it.

I've always seen Obama's Stimulus Package as being separate from TARP. Since the private sector was not creating new jobs Obama had the government spend money to build projects and repair infrastructure in hope of creating new jobs and helping out America.

The Stimulus Package was bogged down by political gamesmanship. How many Republican Governors turned it down? It also did not go far enough to cover the economic losses. It was a tried and true attempt, but this time the numbers affected far out weighed the numbers that got the support.

9 months ago: Who gives a rats rear at this point on how many peasents it saved. The piont is Obama begged Bush for his vote and then turned it around ou YOU.
9 months ago: Cully, your skating on very thin ice here.. You said...

"Of course TARP was Bush's idea and Obama just went along with it. "

Now you say Obama has no link to TARP? Really?

9 months ago: Yes, Bush created TARP and yes Obama as incoming President went along with it. So, yes TARP is partly his fault too as he did not try to repeal it when he took office.

Yes, Bush started both wars and yes Obama as incoming President COULD have ended them as he promised but didn't. Every body coming into Dover after he took office is his fault.
9 months ago: Did Obama ask Bush for his help in Congress to extend the expired TARP payments into the Obama economy so Obama could spend them?

Simple question.
9 months ago: I think I already answered that, but yes. Happy now?

How ironic is it the George H. W. Bush oversaw the loss of over 700 Savings and Loans and the Gulf War. While his son George W. Bush oversaw the colapse of Wall Street and started two wars. I guess the apple does not fall far from the tree huh.
9 months ago: No you didn't. Post this phrase and I'll believe you admitted it.

Ready?

President Elect Obama asked President Bush to extend the expired TARP payments into his administration for Obama payments to Wall Street.

Short of that is a LIE.
9 months ago: ditto
9 months ago: No, you don't get to put words in my mouth. TARP was signed into law by U.S. President George W. Bush on October 3, 2008, like most laws I don't see an expiration date. I do see where things were changed after it was signed. By asking for Bush's help, Obama was going along with what Bush and Congress had laid out. He could have stopped it, but he didn't.
9 months ago: TARP expired under Bush and Obama asked Bush to get an extension from the Democrats in Congress so he would have some walk around money.

Your admission has fallen very short. Then again. I knew it would.

How do you explain that 1.2 Trillion that the FED handed out off of our books to Lord know who? Did they just have it laying around? It is the FED of the U.S. Why so many payments to foreign companies (bankers)?

How is that Dollar in your pocket holding up today?
9 months ago: I still don't see where TARP expired. Maybe not all of the funds had been wasted yet, but how could it expire under Bush (in 2 months no less) when the banks had not been given the chance to pay anything back yet?

Easy to explain the 1.2 Trillion when we have Goldman Sachs people working at the Treasury. It's a Plutocracy and most of us get screwed, even Cypress and RSG, although they seem to be cheering them on.

9 months ago: Back to the main post:

Who in their right mind would buy a GM product to begin with??? They haven't made a quality product since the 60's.

GM and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep should be out of business...that is how our economy is supposed to work, if you cannot compete you go out of business...the government is/was stupid to save them just so they could continue to make crappy vehicles that nobody wants.

Here's a tip: Buy a Ford, Toyota, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Subaru or Acura...you will be much happier.
9 months ago: So tell us again why Obama purchased those companies.

9 months ago: The entire federal government did...I don't know why, why don't you ask them?

I have always been opposed to the bail out for the auto makers...I even wrote a post on this very site about it saying that they should be allowed to fail...because they are failures.

Ford has done a valiant job getting going again...GM (esp. Chevy) are just the biggest loads of crap on wheels you could ever buy...Chrysler is only slightly better...
