You may think that walking into a class room filled with kids dressed as ghosts, but then you realize this is not Halloween.
DAHLONEGA, Georgia, Catherine Ariemma a teacher at a local high school allowed her students to wear Klu Klux Klan style robes to school as part of a school project.
She was working with them on a school project to highlight a scene from American history. They were making a video about racism.
In one instance, the sheet dressed kids walked into the lunch room. "Like, the white students, they were laughing about it, you know? They thought we were blowing it out of proportion. They don't know the magnitude of the situation,
To quote Ariemma, "This is a film about racism…You can't talk about racism and not include about 'the Klan' "
The teacher who is normally well regarded as a very good teacher has been suspended because of this ordeal.
When asked what she would do differently, she responded that she would invite the students to take interest in it, but film it on their own time.
One African American student told reporters that the students in robes approached his cousin and asked if he would be willing to reenact an old fashioned lynching.
Local authorities are also on the alert because some of the students found out about their teachers suspension and responded with some uprising against the powers that be that suspended her in her defense.
