As everyone already knows (whether they want to or not), Jon and Kate Gosselin have said they are making a major announcement on tonight’s episode. The blogosphere is filled with talk about what it could be. I, myself, have 3 guesses. (I should point out that I’ve never watched the show, but can’t seem to avoid hearing about it.)

First, and most suggested, they are getting a divorce. The past few months have been filled with cheating rumors and sketchy photos, which lead many to believe this is the most likely conclusion. This would be very sad, as 8 kids would now grow up in a divorced home. Speaking from experience, that’s no fun.

My second guess is that Kate is pregnant with their 9th (or 10th or 11th, etc) child. Obviously, this would be bad, because Jon and Kate are already on shaky ground. Despite popular belief, having another baby does not make their problems go away. Additionally, they would have to change the name of their show, which would cost a fortune in re-branding, for TLC.

My third guess, and the one I’m most hopeful for, is that they are ending the show to focus on healing their marriage and giving their children a healthy, semi-normal childhood. It has troubled me a great deal, hearing and reading about this train-wreck of a family, as they self-destruct in front of a national audience.

Like I said, I’ve never watched the show before, but every time I see Jon Gosselin on the cover of a tabloid, or in the news, I think to myself, “Man up. Turn off the cameras, take responsibility for the state of your marriage and get it fixed. Privately.”

Those are my predictions. The first would be a tragedy. The second would be trouble and the third would be the best. “Jon and Kate Plus 8” should be off the air forever.

I HIGHLY doubt they're pregnant again since I'm almost positive they've been "fixed". I think they're separating but not divorcing. I think they love each other and could be right again if the cameras were gone and they got counseling (she needs to be shown how degrading she talks to her husband and taught how to treat him as a partner, not a 9th child). I hope they only separate for the duration of the show and get back together when it's over (since she's the one that wants it to keep going and he doesn't). The reality of it all is that, although people watch their lives on TV, we don't know what goes on all the time and how life really is for them. We don't live it so we can't judge it.
32 months ago: I like Siempre's guess the best :P

Seriously though. I hope the decide to drop the cameras and work their marriage problems out, for the sake of their kids. They both need to grow up and start acting like the adults/parents they are. Forget their childish dreams of fame and forture and move on with your life together!!

Yes, please let us know what the announcement is. I would like to know, but not enough to watch the show or look it up on the internet myself :[

32 months ago: I think it is sick that they are still running the show. Now those poor kids have to deal with their parent's divorce and have it aired on national t.v. I hope they make this the last season. Something tells me those poor kids are going to have a lot of resentment and grow up to hate their parents.
32 months ago: I didn't read the article, but I saw on the Yahoo! front page that TLC is putting a hold on the show.

...okay, so after writing that, I felt I should read the article, to provide a little more info:

So, TLC has put a hold on the filming of the show, not airing a new episode until the beginning of August. They want to "support" the family during this "transition." They are giving them time to "regroup" while a new modified schedule in figured out.

Seriously, TLC? You're letting them regroup so that you can figure out a new way to film this poor family?

They, aparently, are keeping the kids in the same PA home, but will alternate who lives with them. They will film each parent separately, this parent and the kids do this, while that parent and the kids do that.

From what I read in the article, it looks to me like they aren't even going to TRY to salvage their marriage. They're like "We're struggling... bust out the divorce papers, there's not turning back."

I am so deeply saddened for those children.

You can go to Yahoo!'s home page and see the article front and center.

If they got counseling and then came to the divorce conclusion than that would be easier to swallow but it seems like they have unresolved issues that could be resolved with help. I too am saddened for those kids, who up until recently, seemed to have a pretty damn happy childhood.
32 months ago: Who the hell cares? Seriously, it's a reality TV show about somebody else's life. What happens to them doesn't affect you at all. They arn't going to have any meaningful impact on you so why care?

Go to CNN, watch news and catch up on current events or go to PBS, Discovery Channel, Food Network, etc., and learn something.

Seriously, why does this gossip even matter.
32 months ago: It may not affect us one way or another, but it is SAD to see a family break up. Especially a family with so many kids.

Did you grow up in a broken home, dangerranger? Did you grow up getting sent back and forth from Mom's house to Dad's house every week? I'm assuming not, since you seem to have no idea what these kids are about to face for the rest of their childhoods. Either way you should see how sad this is. Any family facing divorce is sad news, we just happen to see this family on TV, so we're commenting on it.

And if you look around this site some more, you might notice that we DO also watch CNN, PBS, Discovery, and Food Network... and write rants and raves about the info we get there too!

It's not gossip, merely opinions. I don't watch the show but I do know about it from THE NEWS. Don't act like you're so much better and above the rest of us. We're all entitled to voice our opinions and we're not being a-holes about it, so if you don't mind, go somewhere else with your unwanted rants.
As for Jon and Kate's ongoing drama, it's going to get worse before it gets better and I wish someone with some good advice would step in there and talk some since into them. This show has gone on too far and is no longer about the kids, it's about the train wreck. What a shame.
