THE person responsible for advising our President about economic issues, Larry Summers, is advising our President that the bad winter weather we've been having is likely to exaggerate February's jobless report.

This Larry Summers guy is quoted as saying this dang, global whatchamakallit is closing down restaurants and stores and keeping people from building anything.

(And what's with the "Summers" name? Is it Summer, summers?)

Dang nabit! Aunt Bessie could have a job at Mickie D's if it would quit snowing!

Is this train off the tracks yet? Goodness gracious.

Could you imagine if this was President Palin's economic advisor? You reckon any panties would be in a wad?

23 months ago: Perhaps if Republicans in Congress would stop abusing the use of holds we would have people in charge of important departments and programs (like jobs, healthcare, economic development etc)

For the past year, the demwhits have had a super majority. It was impossible for the repubes to hold anything but the spit bucket.

I am not rewriting your history, I am educating you about what is really happening here in the real world. Wake up, the idea that the super majority prevents congressional holds is a load of you-know-what.
A hold has literally nothing to do with super majority. Any Senator can put a hold on any nominee, at any time. Richard Shelby put a blanket hold on 70 nominations. These people included those who were scheduled to run jobs programs, healthcare programs, transit programs etc etc. These programs have been/were siting idle because Shelby decided he wanted something for himself...This was an abusive use of his power. He did this, not because these people were not qualified (he said himself that they all were). He did it because he wanted congress to ensure him that a tanker fleet and an FBI facility would be built in his home state, if not he would issue holds on all these nominees for ever. (He recently has started to release some of these holds).
