IF Jesus were a modern Mega Church Pastor... how long would He last? Consider the behavior of the Son of God for a moment, as He turns over some tables in the foyer that are selling books and DVD's... or offering plates/bags that imply pew rents and the adage... "You get what you pay for!" Couldn't you see Him challenging 'Robert's Rules and Order' ...and not considering the certain gains of "Charitable Status?"
Sunday coming up we are celebrating the baptisms of a few people that want to follow in the foot-steps of Jesus... they want to experience the truth and freedom that a life in Christ offers, without more than a Bible to direct them... they may very well end up just like Him! Unboxed, unbound, unburdened and underestimated... these new lives in the Kingdom of God are in for the LIVES of their RIDE!:]
I have walked with Jesus and can tell you of many miracles and powerful demonstrations of God's providence... yet the greatest vision I have ever seen, has been the Resurrection power of Jesus Christ. The power to raise a soul from death and destruction... to purpose and glory! This makes me think Jesus just wouldn't do in a modern Pastor role... it would be a demotion and it would be demeaning. The bonds of Hell couldn't constrain Him, and from what I have seen some elders boards of Churches have tried as well... but thanks be to God He is free to work in all who call upon Him from humble hearts, from all walks of life.
I am glad Jesus doesn't pastor our church... there are a lot of lonely people that will never darken a Church door, that desperately need Him to make house-calls. I am glad that Jesus doesn't pastor our Church... there are some dark places in this world that aren't "pastor-approved" that could use a little light. I am glad that Jesus doesn't pastor our church... because He would rather live in the hearts of men and women free touch the untouchable, love the unlovable, and protect the most vulnerable...
He just needs our consent.
If we were considering a change in direction, a change in location, a change in vocation, and a change in identity; what's our excuse... Why Wouldn't Jesus Do?
The great news is that many are taking up Christ on His offer... in the most modern ways! Privately, corporately, casually and even awkwardly... idiotai ...transliterated... idiot! Acts 4:13 says quite literally that the people following Christ in their day were...

I say, I say... I resemble that remark! Many would conclude the same thing for differing reasons, but it's true God has chosen those in this world that are less, to confound those who seem more...
