I hate American Idol. Yes, it's true, i can't stand it. Here's Why:

1. The contestants don't have talent.

This one I'm sure people are going to complain about, but it's true. This season, from what I've seen, many of the male singers could not stay on pitch. Disgraceful. How on earth am I supposed to look at these people and say "ohhh i wish I could sing like that"???? I can't.

2. Impossible to sit through an entire episode

It is obviously scripted. We know it, they know it, everyone knows it. How can REALITY TV be scripted? that doesn't make any sense. Also, I get sick of hearing Paula, Simon, and the other two bickering.

Bottom line: Boring, predictable, and just awful.

3. They could have better programming instead of American Idol.

Yes, yes they could. I would rather stick hot needles in my eyes than watch another episode of that garbage. They could replace it with shows that are actually worth watching!! Lie To Me, Fringe, and Bones are all great shows, Dollhouse was good too. Why don't you sign on a few more and let Idol kick the bucket.

4. They didn't cure cancer

Well, not cancer per se, but they don't contribute to society. Mediocre singing skills doesn't make them a hero or anything close to it. Maybe there should be a reality show about the race against cancer between the major pharmaceutical companies. At least then something good is coming out of it, and the loonies who think Adam or Kris is their savior can stalk someone worth stalking.

So basically, if you don't watch it, don't bother watching, if you do watch, you need a new hobby, and seriously, give us better TV!

Adam Lambert really did save this show. But he can not save it any longer.
I officially hate Arkansas and all those uber Christian conservatives who just couldn't see beyond their provincial prejudices.
I also officially hate the American Idol machine, the voting process that allows these megavoters to steal the contest. They really ought to have some sort of limit on these things. I really don't think I will ever watch that show again, I feel so jaded by this whole thing.
That said, I do not hate the winner. It's not his fault, just as the stupid flood of Adam Lambert photos in high glam or man kisses on the Internet or the fawning of him by the judges and media was not Adam's fault.
It should have been a show to award the best talent. Not this. The show will never be seen the same way again. If we hadn't before, it's very clear that this show has gotten too full of itself.
America chose the safe one again. Disappointing, not surprising and in a way sad for the winner, who will always, always be overshadowed by Adam Lambert. Best of luck to him. But Adam's star will still keep rising higher and brighter with or without some TV show title. That will be the real prize.

33 months ago: Tom, do you hate all reality TV or just American Idol? Maybe it's just not your cup of tea. Remember, the target demographic is 17-year-old girls in Kentucky.
33 months ago: Ooh, Alex! I'd like to cast a vote for MYSELF in that Battle! But, as I said in another post, all this ranting and raving has really been amusing to me! I watched ONE season of American Idol. I think it was back in 2004 or 05, when Carrie Underwood won??? Anyway, I haven't watched since... except for these last two episodes. And that was only because of Rant/Rave.

And ravengirl, I understand that you probably don't want to write the same thing over and over on every post (although you ARE) but for the next post, please come up with something new and original, instead of copy/pasting your last post onto every topic on Adam/Kris. Someone else did that too... telling everyone Adam has a new website. Eh.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
In fact, you posted my rant almost word for word. You just hit submit before I did.
Great minds think alike.
Peace.

I work as an engineer for a large company in Los Angeles and my cubicle is very close to the marketing department so I get to hear these uneducated morons talk all day about this repulsive show. God is this what America has come down to?? No wonder our government issues so many H1B Visas to Asian kids to have them come and do the technical work that our dumb **** Amercian kids can't! Instead of going to college and studying math and science, they are watching stupid **** like American Idol. I am not suprised that we as a country have fallen so low in our rankings for education -- we rank below 27th in the world last time I checked.
