"The man who played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's much criticized "Passion of the Christ," says... that Hollywood has shunned him ever since making the film."

"Despite the film's notoriety and success, Caviezel recently spoke out against the effects the film and his lead role has had on his career, seven years after its release."

I was wondering what happened to Jim Caviezel... and now the story is out as to why we all have not seen more from the actor that stared in the Passion of The Christ. I have seen a few of his other films and enjoyed his talent and roles played... The Count of Monte Cristo was my favorite next to the Passion. IN an appearance at First Baptist Church of Orlando, Jim shared of being "rejected in my own industry" since his role in The Passion of The Christ. Seeing first-hand how the "hounds of Hollywood" eat their own, as in the case of Mel Gibson... Caviezel said... "Mel Gibson doesn't need your judgment, he needs your prayers."

I guess that is the problem with not only being an actor in such a role as this, but being a very open Christian as well. Jim doesn't mince words when it comes to matters of faith... as when Christine Caine met Jim Caviezel in a restaurant (account of meeting in Video section) ...who first and foremost shared his faith, while his personal fame took second place. Most who have met him share similar experiences. This alone can be a deterring factor anywhere, especially in Hollywood... not exactly built on biblical principles.

Caviezel said... "Jesus is as controversial now as he has ever been. Not much has changed in 2,000 years."

IT is a rare thing to have people not only proclaim their faith, but rarer yet to find those who live it... and a greater challenge to take your faith with you to work or play. TO have others ostracize you because of your faith is common, and this too is something Caviezel mentioned, that it was this kind of cross he was willing to bear... it is interesting though, it would seem that Jesus Christ is still being crucified by Hollywood.

Jesus said... "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you (John 15:18-19)

There is however, more to Jim Caviezel than meets the big screen...

(Jim) "...told an interviewer that he had been challenged by a friend who was not pro-life to live up to his professed pro-life convictions and adopt a disabled child. The friend told Caviezel that if he did that, then he would change to the pro-life position. When Caviezel and his wife, Kerri, went to China to adopt not one, but eventually two orphans suffering from brain tumours, the friend reneged on the deal. Caviezel, however, said, "It didn't matter to me because the joy that we had from (Bo) - he's like our own."

As my wife and I are now foster parents, I can see the fulfillment life has to offer, when we do something for someone that desperately needs the little we have... after raising 5 of our own... there is plenty left for one more! Without the challenge of health issues, we are grateful to have this privilege of doing what we can. IN the case of actors, we tend to forget that they are just people... yet with a greater burden of public scrutiny.
Like Mel Gibson and the rest in Hollywood... they need our prayers.

12 months ago: It takes a lot to stand for Christ these days... especially in a trade that mocks and ridicules faith in Jesus Christ. The openness of Jim Caviezel has definitely made him a target.
