I thought I would bring a quality post to the site so this is about Heinz Kidney Soup. I think the problem this product is not made anymore is a question of taste. Have a look at some of the leading chef's writers of the 1960's and you will not see a recipe for this anywhere. Check through Larousse, Beeton, Brillat-Savarin, Hudson and Halls and all the writings of the 1960's up to today and you will find no reference to kidney soup.
We have all tasted lamb's and it tastes strikingly like lambs piss. and the whole thing becomes less palatable when bits of kidney are seen to be floating in the stuff. If you invited friends round for dinner would you even think of kidney soup as a starter unless it was Cypress. (creme d' offal).
I would like to think no, but why, out of all the flavours in the world did Heinz market this stuff in the first place. Alas we probably will never know. All that is left is a trace of heartburn and a lingering aftertaste as though someone had pissed in your mouth?
