Health Care Reform

It’s wonderful to see that people agree that “American healthcare is the best in the world.” To the list of kings, princes, and prime ministers who came to the United States for healthcare we should also add the executive from the Canadian healthcare bureaucracy who recently did the same.

The Mayo Clinic, Sloan Kettering, City of Hope, the Fred Hutch, M.D. Anderson, and many other US-based, world-renowned medical facilities also serve people from all over the world who are of much more modest means. They could not exist just serving kings.

A very small percentage of Americans go abroad for cheaper (and not the best?) healthcare. Anyone who faces a serious health problem would wisely stay where the best care is regardless of cost.

The bottom line is that “American healthcare is the best in the world” and it became that way because of freedom and free enterprise, not through any socialist plan.

Please, VOTE NO ON THE OBAMA HEALTHCARE REFORM.

Believe it or not, I partially agree with you. We have the very best doctors in the world. It's just that our *insurance* system absolutely sucks. We leave poor people with the choice of medical bill-induced bankruptcy or ignoring serious health problems. We don't have funding for free pre-natal care to ensure healthy births.

Of course our medical system is awesome. But the insurance system that's attached to it is horrendous.

And by the way, as for Canada? Guess who pays for the treatment Canadians sometimes get here? If you guessed the patient... Bzzzt, try again. It's the Canadian government.
