I don't think even Al will argue that Obama is for socialized medicine.

Single payor system is the way to go. "Everybody gets health care".

Obama's/ Pelosi/ Reid/ etc. solution was socialized medicine.

England has socialized medicine.

Guess how it is working out over there.

20 months ago: What a tragedy that story was from the Sun. Why do you refer to their health care as "socialized" ?

20 months ago: There is no such thing as an individual in the English healthcare system. They are all part of the collective.

The government instead of individuals.

History shows it can never work.

20 months ago: Chrissy, It's called socialized health care because that's what it is. National Health Service? The name commonly used to refer to the four single-payer publicly funded health care systems in the United Kingdom.

RSG, don't despair.

20 months ago: You are right Red that Obama would have preferred a Single Payer system over the mess we got. Unfortunately because he and Congress tried to appease the conservatives they took Single payer off the table. We could have gotten the same health care for half the price if Obama had taken the "socialist" path instead of doing what the conservatives wanted instead.

They even took out all of the cost cutting measures like a public option to appease the conservatives but it was all for nothing. They should have stuck to their guns and retained the cheaper way.

Republicans resorted to obstructionism instead of constructively trying to solve the problem. Now that the bill is the law of the land and health care is established as a right, maybe we can bring the Republicans to the table to find some common sense solutions to bring the costs down.

There are many ways to bring costs down, like forcing everyone to show their costs, eliminating hospital cost mark ups (350% !!), eliminating the health insurance monopolies, allowing cross border competition, computerizing records & diagnostic tools, and allowing protection from tort if doctors follow an accepted protocol.

You're making s*$t up. Why would Obama appease Conservatives WHEN NOT ONE OF THEM VOTED FOR IT?

Come on Al. Snap out of it.

"maybe we can bring the Republicans to the table to find some common sense solutions to bring the costs down. "

Okay Al, it is the law. HHhhhhmmmm. How are we going to bring the costs down? HHHHhmmmmm. What is the world telling Greece to do to bring their medical costs down? HHHHhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Yea. PRIVATIZE THEIR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. Come on Al. Open your eyes.

You liberals like "forcing everyone" to do something, huh? Shame on you guys.

20 months ago: This story from Fox News shows that Americans were more dissatisfied with their health care than any of the other developed nations studied under Bush's system. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,1369...

Hopefully when Obama's system kicks in in 4 years, we will have worked out the bugs, brought the costs down, and people might like the result. (Anything would be better than what we had before)
20 months ago: and we'll all re-join the dancing perverts in tight tights with the Queen of England in a roaring rendition of Inagodadavida after which we'll drink more tea in dainty little cups with our pinkies with nail polish stuck way out and catch crumpets in each other's mouths.
