Help for the 99ers is sorely needed by millions of Americans and recent media coverage suggests it might be on the way for them in the State of Oregon.
Last Wednesday, Harry Esteve reported in the Oregonian that it was coming in the form of Oregon Senate Bills 637 and 638. On Friday, Michelle Cole reported on
oregonlive.com that it was here in her article titled
Oregon Senate also passes unemployment benefits extension. Unfortunately her article mentions two entirely different bills than Mr. Esteve.
I've been pulling my hair out over this conflict all morning and while I can confirm the legislation mentioned by Mr. Esteve will reinstate unemployment benefits for thousand of Oregonians that have already lost their benefits effective April 15 and last until July 2 or until the funds run out, I cannot confirm Ms. Coles claims that it passed.
Hopefully, help has arrived at last for Oregonian 99ers and its not just a bunch of media spin to get increased readership. I'm following this story as best I can and will update RR and my blog as facts become available.
