Did you hear the news today? Wouldn't it be great if each and every one of us had a plum opportunity like this. FCC Meridith Attwell Baker was an FCC regulator. She was involved in the approval of the Comcast-NBC merger. (source) She recently announced that she is leaving the FCC. You can have three guesses as to where she's going to work next to be a lobbyist? Really, do you need three guesses? Well, if your first guess wasn't Comcast, then you've not been living under a rock for 5,000 years while the plague of greed and corruption has swept the planet. Of course Ms. Baker is going to work for the very same company she helped out not more than four months ago. If this sounds outrageous, well, it is. The question is who's going to stand up and stop this kind of malarkey? It's time to urge Congress to institute minimum three-year non-compete clauses etc. in the contracts of government employees. Help work to make this happen by visiting www.freepress.net!

First, Congress should never allow people who work for the government to serve as lobbyists for the companies they oversaw during their tenure.

Second, Congress should not allow people to work in industries over which they worked for a minimum of three years.

Third, Congress should not allow former government workers to become lobbyists for a minimum of six years.

We need more regulation to make government work better, not less.

Coloranter's recommendations are excellent.

The new Wall Street Reform Law has a lot of great new protections for consumers and limits on the type of Wall Street abuses that caused the economic collapse. Unfortunately implementation of the law is being blocked by the Republicans. We need someone strong like Elizabeth Warren to run the show.

When the Democrats took power, they promised fewer lobbyists. Too bad they didn't say anything about how much they were spending.
