From Admin - The Posting Timer Has Been Fixed

Hey Everyone.

Wasn't this a fun weekend? I know I enjoyed it.

Anyway, the anti-spam timer has been fixed, so you should now be able to post once every 30 minutes. I apologize for the hassle that has been.

Today, I will be monitoring for more spam posts, but if you see any, please flag them. That will bring them to my attention quicker.

I hope you were all at least able to enjoy the Super Bowl.

Yah that spam business is crap. You might look at IP bans for next time it happens. you can ban ip's by block and then change the settings back after a couple days so oyu dont accidently catch others in the ban.

I had some things to post this weekend, but skipped cause of the site glitches. Oh well. It's a new week.

Thanks for getting things fixed! I'm sure the behind the scenes is much more hectic than people realize. Appreciate your effort to clean up the spam and make the site function better.

There is a site that I use for bookmarking that was attacked by a bunch of spammers a year or so ago. Google penalized the site for it and they've been playing catch up every since. With Google's recent announcement about algorithm changes it makes it even more important to react fast and prevent spam from happening. I know that Google is coming down harder on "low quality content" sites.

It might be worth sending out a blanket reminder that plagiarism is a "punishable offense" by Google, whether it's penalizing the person for posting copies of other people's work or a site that allows it. In case people don't know it, if you are an Adsense publisher and you get in trouble by Google you can lose your Adsense for life. They don't mess around.

Thanks again for the fix! It helps us all.

I said a long time ago there should be some restricitons on the daily post limits.

Actually, I think 2 per day should be the limit.
15 months ago: Well, there should definitely be a timer set for some writers that is extra long, especially for those who do copy writing for product marketing. One article per month. And there should be a new section added to the ones across the top of the page titled, "junk posts."

Just noticed that everything all the way back to Feb. 4th has been removed from Google News Search, and nothing new is getting posted.

More spammer problems, or did RR get 86'd from Google News?
