First, should imply just that, but apparently, first has no significance in the eyes of New York Officials.
The people who risked their lives when terrorists attacked on September 11th, 2001 have been made to feel insignificant, if not non-existent, by their own government.
The fire fighters who gave and risked their lives for the United States of America and the City of New York have been excluded from the 10th anniversary of the September 11th memorial ceremony at Ground Zero.
While all of the victim's families have been invited to the ceremony, the government feels that there just is not enough room for the First Responders due to space constraints.
A government official stated," this is simply about the citizens that were killed there." Since when are fallen fire fighters not considered citizens?
In lieu of this outrageous decision, The National Fire fighter Academy will be holding their own ceremony to commemorate the fallen fire fighters on September 11th.
This is an injustice to the brave men and women who risked their lives at a time of tragedy. Many of these heroic men and women are now sick and dying due to the debris they were exposed to as a result of the attacks.
New York City is supposed to be able to overcome any obstacle. Maybe if the news crews, politicians, and support staff would move out of the way, there would be room for the First Responders to honor their fallen brothers and sisters!
