"If national polls show support for gay marriage, why does it keep losing in state votes? ...That's the question of the week after Gallup's national poll two days ago showing 50 percent support for SSM was abruptly followed by North Carolinians voting overwhelmingly to ban the practice. That makes 42 states that now define marriage as between a man and a woman. How do we get from that national point A to the state level's point B? Can't be that Gallup is wildly off; Pew got similar numbers when they polled this issue too."

"Four days after President Barack Obama affirmed his support of gay marriage on Good Morning America, the editors at Newsweek are ready to anoint him with a new title, "The First Gay President.""
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/201...

IF homogeneous marriages are the rave, and the "majority" is in favor of them... why doesn't the votes of real Americans reflect that? And why does it take forced gay-law indoctrination, recruitment and propaganda, to hood-wink people into acceptance?
In California forced gay-law indoctrination is also forcing a "homosexodus"
of students and parents fleeing personal and religious tyranny.
The truth is the majority doesn't support gay marriage... simply because by historical definitions it doesn't exist, and is a perversion of the historical term itself.

Like other dictatorships, the USA can force it's people into compliance by media propaganda, and social pressure... and when that fails it can use laws and guns! One's freedom is a fallacy... and the American Dream will soon become a nightmare. As you pursue happiness... your government will dictate to you how and where you can do it.
It USED to be that you "didn't have to be happy to be gay" ...well times are a changing, soon you will have to be gay, in order for you to be happy! And your "pursuit of happiness" better include a rainbow!

The liberal media is happy to slam conservative presidential nominees for their expressions of faith... yet hold an open door to the gay agenda's dissemination of the public's rights to freedom and faith. As I intimated before, there is nothing sacred about this acting "president" of the United States... the constitution, like her people have been violated sexually! Ron Paul is the only presidential nominee that seems to have some uncommon sense about the issue... and would have individual States determine what is acceptable. But that would be democracy...

"This should be a religious matter. All voluntary associations, whether they are economic or social should be protected by the law. But to amend the constitution is totally unnecessary, to define something that is already in the dictionary. We do know what marriage is all about. We don't need a new definition, or argue over definition, and have an amendment to the constitution..."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGaBAb_oS...

...marriage is and always has been a religious matter. And for the Federal Government to intrude into matters of religion, is a breach of the Constitution, and the separation of Church and State. Obama can say all he wants that this a "personal" choice as it applies to him, yet he wields the sword for the nation, and enforces an agenda against the religious rights of the majority. When any one quotes portions of the Bible, while mocking the weight of it, proves at least a hypocritical motive... and this is the mode of operation by this acting president. On one hand he quotes "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and fails to quote context and Biblical law and principle when it comes to homosexuality, or heterosexuality for that matter...

"Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done." (Romans 1:22-28)

...you see here, according to the Word of God, perversion is defined. Is there a right or wrong? Yes. Is there heterosexual and homosexual sin? Yes. Is God forgiving and merciful to all who call on His name? Yes. Does one have to be heterosexual to find the grace of God? NO! God's grace is free to all who call on Him... but let's not rewrite the Gospel to accommodate our lusts, temptations or desires. No where do we have the right to change what God directed, to appease our current governments and political agendas. Remember... "One nation under God"

I don't see the illegalization of other ancient books like the Qur'an, that sanction polygamy and pedophilia, as defined by our current laws and governments...
under the whole "equal rights" for multiple wives and preteen Muslim girls...

"Muhammad married Aisha when she was six, and had sexual intercourse with her while she still remained pre-pubescent at the age of nine lunar years. This fact has been recorded many times in Sahih ahadith. This article will discuss the Qur'anic verse that allows Paedophilia."
http://wikiislam.net/wiki/Pedophilia_in_...'an

"Mohammed is a Pedophile"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu-YiN-mn...

...where is Obama on that issue? Where is his "personal" statement on Islamic pedophilia? I guess we already know his "personal" feeling on the "holy Qur'an" as he puts it. What a two-faced approach to the administration of a nation! Obama should be out of the religious business, and get back to getting jobs for his people!
He is not being paid to be Pope or Cardinal over matters of religion...
or maybe he very well is? You never know... follow the money!

Long time no see :)

Marriage you say its a religious thing and should be treated as such. Well in my view Marriage is a contract that protects a man and women in a union together and government is just a third party to the marriage that enforces the laws that protect the couples rights in marriage. Through out history marriage has been many things , performed in many ways all over the world. It was not always just a religious thing. There were many different traditions through out history that were bad and have changed through out time, some right from the bible. But times have changed so has what marriage was when a women was like a piece of property in a marriage and had no rights. But in this time a age we see a lot of things in history that were wrong and we changed it for the better. And in another 500 years we will see the way we saw things now and change it again. We are evolving growing with mistakes in every area of life. Like the bible it has changed from the beginning into what it is now with every person who deciphers it in his own mind to what he thinks it may say and changes the words in the bible now we have many. But you are right government has no right getting the middle of any marriage and the church has no right getting in the middle of a marriage either. That right solely belongs to the couple weather it be same sex or heterosexual marriage. Its is a Contract between two people while they are in a union together. That right should be given to anyone who has a partner in life just like a business you have to protect yourself or you will get screwed ;)

You always seem to bring level of civility to every conversation we get into, even if we disagree. You say basically "things are changing" ...and on CNN last night I heard an spin-caster compare gay rights to black rights... well I have heard of many ex-gays, but never met an ex-black !:] I would agree that things are changing, and the definition of "right and wrong" is the first to go. But the Bible hasn't changed at all.

The same God of the Old Testament, it the God of the New Testament, He was born as a servant, and will return as the Master. The severity of sin hasn't changed either, yet in this age of grace, God has chosen to trade His righteousness for our wretchedness. And humble people, regardless of their lives are finding that out! As I said homosexuality/heterosexuality is not the defining pinnacle of the Bible... it is the salvation of all sin... but we don't redefine sin... or in this case marriage. Now we see the redefining of terms, the rewriting of history, and the forgetting of lessons learned.

I think that rights of "unions" between people can be accomplished without redefining historical terms in a dictionary. What people don't seem to understand is that many like myself aren't homophobes... rather they just want the liberty to enjoy their own lives without being forced into indoctrination, and agendas that fly in the face of their personal/religious beliefs. I am all for the freedom of homosexuals to "make their own beds" ...I just want to have the right to be kept out of it, and have the freedom to disagree.

The problem is that if government does NOT recognize gay marriage, that couple is denied over a thousand rights granted to hetrosexuals. In an egalitarian and libertarian society every one should be considered equal and the government should not persecute minorities. That is what the Constitution is all about. Protecting minorities from the tyranny of the masses.

In the 60's 70 % of the people were opposed to mixed marriages. This is no different. It is just a matter of time before the Supreme Court declares all state laws against gay marriage unconstitutional. The homophobes are clearly on the wrong side of history.

That is what we should be considering the basic human rights of the individuals. Gay marriage has numerous benefits for the couple and for the children of these couples and also for society as a whole. By denying the couple the right to profess their love to each other and to publicly commit to each other, than you are encouraging promiscuity, degeneration, broken families, and children with only a single parent.

The question of why polls indicate broad support for gay marriage and yet anti gay legislation passes in many states is an interesting one. It may be that most people are homophobic just as most people are racist, but when asked people are quick to deny their dark sides. They are ashamed of their phobias because they know deep in their heart that it is wrong and so they deny their homophobia to the pollsters, but in the secrecy of the polling place they allow their darker sides t surface.

The churches are enormously influential both financially, morally, and culturally. That is why, although there is broad support throughout the nation, for having the option of death with dignity it is still banned in 47 states.

Most of the bigots left the Democratic party during the civil rights era and found support in the Republican party which is why the Republicans represent all of the negative and darker sides of human nature - violence, war, intolerance, racism, homophobia, greed etc. while the Democrats represent all of the best of human nature kindness, generosity, empathy, tolerance, peace etc.

Marriage, by definition, is the union of one man and one woman.

If gay people want to live as a couple for life, and need to have a ceremony and a word representing that, then make your own word. "Marriage" is already taken, defined, and widely accepted. Same-sexers already stole the word "gay" and changed its widely accepted meaning. This word thievery has to stop. Make up your own words for your own institutions. Get your own laws passed that pertain to your situation, and quit messing around with ours.

Look at the success of "kwanzaa". That's a made-up word, and a made up institution. They didn't go around trying to tell everyone that it was "Christmas", even though they wanted it to replace Christmas in their particular demographic. Now, as of 2004, approximately 1.6% of the population celebrates Kwanzaa in December. That is almost exactly the percent of people in the US who are homosexual.

Once again, get your own word.
