So the big reveal on Lost last night was "Dr. Linus (!?)" That's about as interesting as Jack's son playing the piano and listening to indie music. Yawn.
Why do the writers of season 6 of Lost keep torturing us with the mundane lives of these half-characters. So Ben is Dr. Linus in the flash-sideways timeline. Who gives a rip? His actions are (so far) meaningless. Really. Who cares if Keamy can make great eggs?
Last night's Lost episode, "Dr. Linus," lacked action and substance. Most of the episode focused on the poor sad life of sideways Dr. Linus (Ben). He complained about his job, took care of his jerk dad, and made a feeble ploy for his boss's job. LOST!
It didn't exactly make for compelling television. But most of the non-Island stories have been oddly short and dumb. Maybe it's just the fact that Lost fans still don't care about the flash-sideways characters, like "Dr. Linus." Do their actions even matter? They're only copies of the people we know and love, like Jack, Kate, and Sawyer.
Back on the real Island, Richard stupidly tries an awkward route of suicide, which fails, and Ben is forgiven for killing Jacob by an afternoon of hard labor and a short speech. Yeah. If only he'd been a physician… or even a high school history teacher… Dr. Linus, my aching butt.
So, who are the six candidates? Well, we've got Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid, Kate, Jack, Jin/Sun, and possibly one other? The smart money says that Jacob will end up choosing Jack as the Island's new protector – because he's the biggest star and it's been set up with the Jack/Locke dichotomy since season one of Lost. Season six will end with a "final battle" of sorts, with Jack's team of do-gooders (Jack, Hurley, Sun?) facing off against the evil smoke monster's recruits – so far, that includes Claire, Sawyer, and Sayid. (Kate's on the fence.)
I do hope that Dr. Linus ends up stabbing Smokey right in the gut. He owes the Island one after murdering Jacob.
