Where do you get your protein from?
Do you eat chicken?
These are the questions I most often get as a vegetarian. I've been one for about 8 years now so just imagine how many times I've heard these before!
Now, I totally get how people are curious about learning about something as "strange" as vegetarianism. But really! The word itself implies I eat veggies and a chicken is not a vegetable last I heard.
I'm usually patient and try to inform people about this lifestyle. But I think I just needed to rant because I got asked the chicken question more than once this week and it's only Tuesday. :-)

Most people live woefully unaware of what's actually in what they eat. For example...

Ask people which of the following foods has protein in it?

(a) rice
(b) Pringles® Potato Crisps
(c) green leaf lettuce
(d) Eggo® waffles
(e) none of the above
(f) all of the above

The correct answer is "all of the above", but most people will pick none of the above. Any good biochemist will tell you that if the food you are eating contains the cells of the animal or plant, you are eating protein.

The idea being that if they were smart enough to develop the technology to get to earth, they would have realized the benefits of a vegan diet. So, you'll have something to talk to the overseer about when you're down in the mines with the rest of the enslaved humans.
Kudos, dude. See ya in the mines.

LOL

Vegans avoid all of the above. If a person includes fish in their diet their known as pescatarians. There are alot more variations but these are the most common. I am a creole-vegetarian which is a term used for those with a caribbean diet; a more regional term. (puertorican in my case).

And yes, people and aliens (why not?!) can survive on this type of diet. Although, many of my meat-eating friends have said that if faced in a survival-type scenario they'd eat the vegetarians first (healthier lol)
