Police officers are supposed to protect and serve. They should lead as good examples of the community. After all, many young children look up to police officers as heroes.
Well, when there was a parade last week in Brooklyn, known as the West Indian Day Parade, some of New York's finest took it upon themselves to enjoy themselves to the fullest.
An officer from the 78th precinct was seen and photographed being pinned against a metal structure by a scantily clad woman who was grinding the elated police officer in the vicinity of his utility belt. The patrol men also received a kiss from the dancer. All the while, many, including children, had witnessed the spectacle.
Another police office was sure to pull out his cell phone and record the view from above, when another dancer backed up on him. This police officer also received a lap dance from the dancer.
A video that was posted on the internet shows uniformed police officers suggestively dancing with scantily clad women. This video went viral on the internet getting as much as 1.3 million views.
On Tuesday, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelley stated that he "would prefer that it not have happened," but he also stated that he did not "want to make too much of it."
Mayor Michael Bloomberg commented on Tuesday that while "on carnival days, people get carried away, celebrate in very demonstrative ways," there was, on the behalf of the officers, "probably a little bit of poor judgment."
I guess this just proves that police work really can be a grind after all! In the end, there were 14 gun seizures, 16 arrests and a bit of dirty dancing at the parade!
