Difference: Schools vs Prisons... Bible Welcome in Prisons!

Prison: The only Government run facility left that allows, and actually promotes the reading of the Bible... how ironic! Today someone shared the cover picture to this rant, I was floored... yet why is it that one has to end up in prison to be allowed the life-changing, purpose-driving, hope-inspiring word of GOD? You know what... I don't care, and I am grateful for this last freedom that imprisoned souls get to inspire them to see beyond their chains. Yet, how much better for these precious lives, if they had been given those same freedoms only months and years earlier?

Jesus said... "The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life." (John 6:63)

It will surprise you to see how many programs that the government opens a door to, the most effective being Bible-based programs, for rehabilitation and counselling. Why then has the Bible been ousted from every other facility of formative education and resource? The correlation to the era that the Bible was banned, to the level of criminal activity in those same institutions has been established repeatedly; yet on deaf ears the alarming voices fell then, as they continue to do today.

"...many of His disciples withdrew and were not walking with Him anymore. So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, do you?" Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. "We have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God."" (John 6:66-69)

Even worse than the secular education facilities... shamefully some of the very institutions that proclaim faith in Jesus Christ no longer cherish His word. Call it fear of reprisal, political correctness, or plain hypocritical agendas of half-hearted fakes... trying to gain a name for themselves or their special interest group. These luke-warm gloryhounds soon show their hand as dishonest manipulators. It is one thing for the secular world to remove God from their midst, quite another for "believers" to do so. This is why people who join clubs just to change them are so despised. They lack any fabric as innovators, they have to pervert respected long-standing institutions!

Jesus also said... "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

An illustration was given to me the other day, a man said to me... "It matters little, if you believe the oncoming freight train will hit you, no amount of misguided faith will prevent the inevitable, if one continues to stand in it's way!" So it is with the words of Jesus... regardless of our belief or dis belief, His words will stand as our judge or our defense. Just look around you at the locations His word is welcome... things haven't changed that much in 2000 years...

"The Son of Man (Jesus) came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'' But wisdom is shown to be right by its results."
(Matthew 11:19)

In fact the entire prison system is counterproductive. It takes minor criminals and forces them to join gangs for protection and turns them into hard core law breakers. There is hardly any efforts at rehabilitation, education or job training, and once out ex cons find it almost impossible to find a job so they revert to a life of crime.

They may also be a recruiting station for Islamic terrorists. Since our unfair system targets more blacks than others, the blacks who are resentful are susceptible to joining the black Muslims. http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011...

Ironically the best way to keep young people out of prison is by investing more in education so Republicans slashing education budgets may actually be encouraging homegrown Muslim terrorists.
11 months ago: Altruist,

Why would secular nonreligious Representatives of the Unites States "like to hear that a prisoner has repented for his sins and found Jesus so they encourage bible reading and the prisoners play along to get out early" ...and not do the same for Public Schools? Obviously the Bible and a relationship with Christ is legit enough to change behavior and impact participants with a new purpose for living...
you should try it sometime !:]
10 months ago: Albert. There is more in the Bible than just Jesus. Have you read it?
11 months ago: You know that would be really great if that were completely true, but all I can think about are people like Son of Sam, or so many other incorrigibles that are out on the streets.
If some make it to change their lives, then they have to face so many other obstacles, so how many wind up back in prison.
