I would like to say I feel optimistic about the Detroit Lions chances this season with the new additions and changes in coaching staff but I just cannot. Whoever decided to set the schedule this season is beyond testing the Lions they are bound to keep them unable to compete and win?
Beyond the regular NFC North challengers of the Bears, Packers & Vikings with the legendary Brett Favre there is little chance I can see for the Lions to go beyond a hopeful 6-10 this season. I would like to be more optimistic but based upon the other teams on the schedule I am doubtful that this can happen in spite of them.
Their schedule isn't helping their cause and I wonder if that wasn't the intention by the NFL to keep the Lions the laughing joke of the league in order to force the hand of the Ford family to step up and sell. We can change coaches fifteen times in a season, draft newborns at birth in the hopes of them becoming top prospects in the year 2031 and still we will not get deep into the playoffs under this scheduling challenge.
This life long devoted fan to the Hawaiian Blue & Silver is losing himself in the football schedule from hell. I am hopeful that I am wrong but honestly, I just do not see any likelihood that the Lions can get beyond six wins despite their lack of contact within their own division this season.
Washington is a hopeful win, Bears a strong possibility if Stafford is healthy, Eagles despite a new QB I am not seeing it, Vikings awe c'mon that's not even close to being fair, Giants/Jets nope ain't gonna happen, Rams yeah I believe we can. Patriots really the Patriots why not stab me in the neck cutting my arteries while your at it? Tampa Bay you betcha, Dolphins maybe but not likely, Packers/Cowboys, Bills I can only see one win out of those three and that is being overly optimistic by anyone's count.
I would like to take this opportunity for the record to stand on my head, singing "When the Saints come marching in" because they are more likely to repeat than my beloved Lions are to make it to the Super Bowl.
