I was extremely disappointed to see Detective John Stone (DJ Cotrona) killed off on Detroit 187 last night, March 15, 2011. He was an outstanding addition to the squad, and his relationship with Detective Ariana Sanchez was finally coming about. DJ is an amazing actor, and I loved the relationships between his character and the other squad members. I also loved how he had, before coming to the homicide division, been with the undercover narcotics. He knew a great deal about the drug dealers and their areas, which I thought would definitely save homicide in a future case. Last week after watching Det. Stone get shot, I was concerned but not too concerned because I just knew that the show would not let go of such a valuable member that soon. I have seen people writing on website posts about how they were going to "stop watching Detroit 187 if Det. Stone gets killed off". Well, to many of our surprise, he was. I don't want to lose Detroit 187 because I think it is truly a good TV show, and one of the last ones around, but I am honestly shocked that they would evaporate a character that quickly. Especially a character as meaningful and as invaluable as Det. Stone was. Is this ABC's doing? Are they trying to ruin the show to get it off the air?? Opinions and feedback welcome and appreciated!!

14 months ago: They could always do flashback episodes. I like the other characters as well: Pooch, the reptile Malloy, the Detroit Post reporter, should all be recurring roles.
14 months ago: That's true, but it's still not the same. And now after watching the season finale, it looks like they might try to construct a romance between Fitch and Sanchez if they get a shot at a second season. That just doesn't work at all for me - Fitch and Sanchez, but I do hope the overall show gets another season.
I also enjoyed some of the minor characters, including Pooch (he was funny), as well as Agent Harkins, Pup Clemens, and the yet-to-be-seen Anjali, Mahajan's arranged Indian bride. I hope that Detroit 187 gets renewed, because I think they could bring a lot more and show people what a great program they really are.

14 months ago: Yes, an arranged marriage for Mahajan would be interesting and funny, especially since he crudely said his feelings for women were mostly "in his pants". Considering the parents and all, what a relationship that would be. Lots of comic relief (or other tensions) there.
14 months ago: Definitely! Mahajan makes me laugh; just his personality and dry sense of humor really gets to me for some reason. There are a lot of aspects of Detroit 187 that appeal to me, and I hope that ABC realizes that there are some loyal fans out there, waiting patiently for new episodes of this comedic yet insightful and thought-provoking show. I will truly miss it if it is not renewed for a second season.
