Can some one please tell me what the heck the New York Post editors were thinking?
** They probably were thinking it's a political cartoon and a very clever one at that. The cartoonist linked two major news stories together to prove his point and make some people laugh and others shake their heads while agreeing.
How in the world can a satirist in the year 2009 draw this kind of cartoon and have it printed.
** It's called Free Speech. Look it up or do you want to take that away as well? Free Speech is not absolute and I agree with your example of a crowded theater but I think that speech that offends people should be protected.
If for no other reason then because it is politically
incorrect it should not have left the editorial desk!
** Politically correct? People need to grow up. Everyone is so scared to offend other people. Here's a news flash folks - life isn't a bed of roses, it's not always easy and nice guys often finish last. If you can't take life, get out. Become a recluse and avoid it. If we as a culture cannot accept all speech then we are completely doomed.
This kind of cartoon is an open threat on the life of the leader of the free world.!
** How do you figure? Honestly, defend that statement? How is this an open threat on the life of the president? Are you smarter than the Secret Service? Don't they investigate ALL threats on the President. If this is truly an open threat then why is the cartoonist not locked up right now? Or are you being emotional and just saying it because you're easily offended and upset?
I don’t want to hear republican, rightwing conservative B.S. about how it was an attempt to describe the ‘monkey business ‘ that was going on in the writing of the stimulus bill or any excuse for that matter. Because you have two white cops with smoking guns having shot dead the monkey that apparently wrote the first stimulus bill.
** That's odd, I saw two cops. I didn't notice they were white. You could draw so many comparisions I don't know where to start. Monkeys are dumb. Monkey was out of control. Congress is dumb to create a bill and not read it. Spending it out of control. etc. etc.
Oh my God! I am so enraged! The president needs to send the secret service down to this poor excuse of a paper and shut them down on the grounds of national security!

You think that is censorship of speech? Huh? Any one of you dare say that is censorship of speech? Yell fire in a crowded theater see if it doesn’t land you in jail! Draw a picture of yourself shooting down a cop and hand it to a cop!
** My best friend is a cop. Where is the probable cause by handing him a picture of me shooting a cop? Is it a stick figure? Is the sky purple in my drawing. Once again, emotional and ridiculous.

Every time I turn around. Some white person (yes I said it!) tells me that black people need to forget the past. That black people are the cause of their own problems.
** Huh? Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. So regardless of color are most people problems a result of someone else? Point 1 finger and there are 3 more pointed back at you.
Is that where white people think all black people live? Where ever there is problems. No white’s have ever robbed anyone right? There is no Russian mafia. There is no Italian mobsters. No Irish have ever committed crimes! It is only blacks!

Do you know who is most likely to get gunned down before the age of eighteen of all ethnic groups in America? African American young men! By the hands of cops. By the hands of other young black male.

By their own hands because of suicide by the hands of whites. No matter what is wrong with society. The first person to be blamed is a young black man.

Is no one out there upset? Do you think that it does not effect you? We are not a white America and a black America.
** Where did Obama go to church for 20+ years? Defend that.
We are not a red America and a blue America. We are not a rich America and a poor America.
** Actually we are. There are social classes in our world, not just our country, the world. You cannot change that.
Where do you think you can run and hide? If black people suffer it is a white problem. If White people suffer it is a black problem!

Rich republicans should know that they are democrats too! The rich have to support their children no? Do children have their own jobs? Children are welfare cases. They depend on the adults.
** If I have a child that is 12 years old and doesn't work they are on welfare - ah, I see your example but I disagree.
The poor and disenfranchised are just like children that need guidance and help. Nobody wants to be unemployed. Every one wants to work. They just don’t want to be working poor.
** Everyone wants to work? Bull. I don't want to work but I do. Why do the poor and disenfranchised need guidance and help. Someone that is poor is as helpless as a child. My mother is a perfect example and that's for another post. Try going up on a dirt floor. To some today "poor may mean basic cable only.
Do you think every black person is poor? How many of your white friends are multi millionaires. The rich no matter black or white have responsibilities to the whole of society. No one is immune!
** Completely false. I have a responsibility to myself. No one owes me anything. What entitles you or anyone else to a good living. Work for it. Grab a box of tissues 'cause heres the skinny - in this world there are winners and losers. The world needs both.
Stop blaming black people. Stop this type of caricature of your fellow Americans. Don’t say it is not me. I don’t do stuff like that! Be brave stand up for your fellow Americans and say enough is enough!

Don’t count your political correctness by the amount of black friends you claim to have. Count yourself among the disenfranchised by getting down in the muck and getting down and dirty! Don’t ask to be applauded for your brave work of race relations. Do right for the sake of doing right and let that be it!
** Am I a bad person if I don't give money to the poor? Am I required to work on race relations. Why do we all have to get along? Down and dirty? Why should I work 80+ hours a week and then hand off my paycheck to someone else while that person did nothing. Explain that to me. Honestly, explain why I have to work for those that don't want to work. Explain it. Please.
