Clearwire internet service STINKS!!! Their service is UNRELIABLE, yet they want to hold you to their 'contract' when you try to cancel. When I signed up, the salesperson clearly told me that there is no contract, that the paperwork says there is a 2 yr contract, but it's very hassle free. All I'd have to do is to call the customer service number and they'd send me a return envelope for the equipment. From day one, I had trouble connecting to the internet. They would tell me that there was a problem with the modem, or the network or some junk like that. A couple of weeks ago, I finally decided to cancel, as I was paying for a service I couldn't use. They had me talk to the tech support people who, after over an hour of trouble shooting, finally said that the ethernet cable which they provided, was bad. The ridiculous tech guy was so condescending. He said, "Maam, next time, always check your cables before calling." Then, a day later, the service was crappy again. I called, they re-comissioned my device, but it was still unreliable. I called to cancel, but now they are trying to hold me to the non-existent contract, and charge me for cancellation. The customer service guy told me that the salesperson was just trying to make a sale, so he told me there is no contract. I explained that I've spoken to several store reps as well as their customer service dept, who told me I could cancel without penalty if I'm still not satisfied. He said, "Maybe they didn't know what 'penalty' meant. Really? Really? The FCC or BBB needs to crack down on them.
