John Rich, he of “Big & Rich” country fame, has been arrested and charged with assault and harassment. Country music fans everywhere shed a tear, and the rest of the world says “who is John Rich?”

John Rich apparently smacked reality show Nashville Star contestant Jared Ashley across the face, perhaps in an attempt to get rid of Jared Ashley’s gross mustache. TMZ.com says that John Rich has quite the history of violence. Last October, John Rich was involved in two fistfights in a hotel where he was staying.

Nashville Star was a low-rated country music version of American Idol. It was cancelled after six(!) seasons on CMT. Even American Idol superstar host Ryan Seacrest called Nashville Star “American Idol without the talent."

Well, hopefully Jared Ashley will somehow survive and John Rich will spend a night in jail. Yawn.

36 months ago: No. He has not earned a right to slap anyone. I don't have to move to little Nashville to see an idiot or two. I live in a much larger city than Nashville. I listen to and purchase CW. It's not a Nashville thing as you try to make it out to be. I doubt your from Dallas. If you were you would know that it is the 2nd (Second) largest porn production city in the world. Want to be blind? OK. I don't have to grow up and play the Nashville Game... It's just another phase of the "my bad" moving to "badville".
