Doesn't everyone wish that their employer would pay them to leave? Now that I think of it, there are a few individuals working Wall Street that were paid to leave quietly. However, Conan O'Brien is not one to leave quietly, by evidence of his joking about his employer on his late night show recently.
NBC agreed to pay Conan O'Brien $30 million to vacate leave the "Tonight Show" it was learned recently. The deal needed to be brokered by NBC executives and the Conan camp. At dispute was whether O'Brien's contract guaranteed him a "Tonight Show" airing at "11:35 pm." If NBC was found to breach his contract, he could have seen as much as $50 million as a penalty. This seems to be a compromise by both camps.
It has been rumored that Fox is interested in giving O'Brien a shot at something. If that happens Conan's payout might be a bit less than the negotiated $30 million depending on the terms.
