Chuck "The Ice Man" Liddell has been fighting for a very long time. Liddell has been fighting since UFC 17 and has become a legend in the sport. He is also 39 years old. I think that his age has finally caught up with him. Liddell has lost four out of the five matches. Three of the four he was knocked out COLD.
Now, I know it sucks that Dana White (owner of the UFC)said Liddell is retired from fighting and that it is over. You're never going to see Chuck Liddell on the canvas again is what came from White's mouth.
I get it but my rant is, What about Mauricio “Shogun” Rua? On April 18th, Rua knocked the snot out of Liddell. Liddell was hit so hard, he was in a free fall to the canvas. Back when Rua was in pride, he was the considered one of the best light heavy weight fighters and he only lost once from 2003 to 2007. His pride years were definitely his best years. When Rua came to the UFC in 2007 he lost to Forest Griffin by a rear naked choke. The fight after that was in Jan of 09 vs Mark Coleman. It wasn't the best showing of Rua but at least he got the win. Now that Rua has laid out Liddell, I think he has his mind right and is ready to take on anyone who stands in his way.
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is one of the best fighters in the world. I would love to see he get him get a title shot. I'm just a little disappointed that ever article I read is about Liddell. Rua needs to get a little respect because I know he will be the champ again very soon. It took a little time for Rua to look like the Rua from Pride and it looks like to me he has his grove back.
