More important than us, who is left for our children to look up to?
Once upon a time, children could keep their time of innocence and childhood dreams. There was creativity and imagination that could turn their bright thoughts into a reality to reach goals. They could go to a baseball game with their parents and with wide- eyes open say: "I want to be just like him when I grow up." Baseball the greatest sport I know. The kids would be excited and wear their Team's caps and shirts and have the best time of their lives. The ones who can afford to can. This isn't my point. Where has the wonder gone? Most people can't afford a ticket and are deprived.
There was a time children were focused on Presidents and Leaders in their studies. They could look up to them. Combined this with some childhood fantasy in Disney films and Parks, stories, etc., their personalities were healthy and well-rounded. They had time to be kids. The local heroes, celebrities, sportsmen set an example for our children, but today most have fallen short of their responsibility to these kids, aside from a few that are true to who they are. Many of these so called idols have fallen by the way side. Their lifestyles on a whole have been replaced by a grey area all the while making loads of money and practicing arrogance in their behavior daring anyone to challenge them. It's all about money.
The politicians show the world they don't care about what happens to anyone else's children. They are a bunch of talking heads with nothing to say of value. The great people who once set an example for the youth of America are no where to be found. Today our would-be idols lack substance and all the while influence and force innocent minds to see them as an example, all for the price of selling a ticket. Where has all the wholesomeness gone? It has been replaced by hard core films, violence, violent computer games, television violence, and brutality on the streets. The News media reports on everything that is wrong with the Country blasting the airways every single day and every minute of the day with depressing stories. The news never reports anything wholesome as a steady part of their daily routine. I think it would help America if they did.
On top of this the Government is chipping and cutting away at the educational programs crushing the children's chances of growing up to be good citizens in society as good providers and the leaders of tomorrow. They won't know how without example.
What happened to our America? Our children once had hopes and dreams and the focus was on fulfilling goals. There was good healthy competition. Family living and togetherness was right there helping every step of the way. Today these kids see the hardship and problems caused by the economy effecting their parents inability to thrive as a family. Today the news is that a high percentage of people are living single. Most of this is caused by no jobs and money problems. People runaway from problems. These children become the ward of single parents, either divorced, or widowed. How do they have any chance at being all they can be if that still exists in the remotest form in this Country? Single parents are dependent on jobs and the American belief that they are strong enough to pull their own weight. With the tearing down at the very fiber of this Country by greed, it is weakening our society and hurting our children and whatever chance they have at a future. They won't be children any more if this continues at such a pace. We will have nothing but wasted minds cluttered with confusion if something isn't done.
