Attention Internet sellers of ALL outlets. Please read & learn.

If I make a purchase from your company online, no matter how minor or major it may be, that is because I am interested in that one product. I expect to get emails from you in regards to that purchase. But that's where it should stop.

Just because I make one order from you (or ten even) doesn't mean that you should automatically include my email address for your mailing lists, announcements, sales, etc. You have no right to add my address to your list for advertising purposes without my permission. Period.

From a business perspective, I truly believe that doing this will only result in negativity & unhappiness toward your company. And really, why would you want to take that risk? Most products can be purchased at a multitude of online shops, and believe me, it's easy to purchase elsewhere. So again, I ask, why go out of your way to lose customers like that? You are just driving them to shop elsewhere & bringing down your bottom line along the way. It doesn't make very good business sense.

About seven months ago, I had a company do this to me in regards to purchasing printer ink online. After my purchase was complete, I continued to get constant emails regarding sales, announcements, etc. I asked to be removed. It didn't happen. So last week, I went to purchase more printer ink. And I shopped elsewhere.

Now, when I get this sort of spam, I respond back requesting to be removed from the list & ask the company not to contact me again. I then set up an email filter for that company's email address & I have it automatically delete any future emails that are sent my way. I also no longer patronize the company. Ever.

Before I started using my email filter, I would get responses back telling me that I had to use the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the original spam email to get off the list. Now why should I have to do this? Why should I have to go out of my way to unsubscribe from an email list that I never signed up for to begin with? It makes absolutely no sense to me. I've also received rude responses to my requests to be removed & several times, I would still get the mass emails, even after I asked not to. Thus, the filer system in my email address is a dream to me. A mute button, if you will.

And while I am grateful for this option, I still say I shouldn't have to use it. So businesses, listen up.

STOP THE INSANITY.
