"We felt like... (Christ) was getting in the way of accomplishing our mission" ...Campus Crusade For Christ, will no longer be "for Christ" ...and it is a shame! When "Christian" ministries are intimidated enough to "loose" association to Christ, or outright deny His Name... you better know it is a sign of decline. Campus Crusade says that the name "Christ" is holding them back... what about their name's reference to the "Crusades?" Maybe if they renamed to Campus for Christ it may have better appeal?
Steve Sellers, the vice president for Campus Crusade says...
"Our name was becoming more and more of a hindrance"

"Christians have always had their differences, but never in church history have there been so many statistics indicating that many Christians today are practicing what can only be described as "Christless Christianity."
http://www.christlesschristianity.org/in...It seems to be all in the marketing of religion ...a Christ-less "Christianity" is more popular and salable... just think of all the doors that will be open now that Christ is officially off-campus! Things like this have worked well for some "Churches" who have taken Christ completely out of the Gospel, and replaced Him with imagination. Just think of it... "christ" can be anything you make him... Mmmm sounds vaguely familiar to the New Age Gospel. I have a problem with this blatant betrayal.
Even those outside of the Christian Faith demand "Christians" to stand for their beliefs and practice what they preach unashamedly... a popular re-writing of the scriptures comes off as phony and hypocritical... to change a ministries name for sake of political correct pressure is no different. Like I said, if their name's ref to the dark ages of the Crusades was omitted, and Christ remained, their allegiance to Jesus would go unquestioned. Many ministries have taken this broad-road to prosperity,
like Joel Osteen and others of popular "evangelicalism".
The new ministry being sold to the public is a place where everyone is welcome...
except Christ... IF Christ is no longer in Christianity.
"Take Christ out, and you become just another crusade," one critic wrote on the Campus Crusade website. "How repulsive can you get?" Another person wrote, "We are both appalled that you think you have to remove the name Christ from your name."
