For those who may have not heard the news, Actress Brittany Murphy has died, according to the Los Angeles coroner's office. Brittany Murphy a 32-year-old actress, who starred in many movies, including Clueless and 8 Mile with Eminem. News sources reported that the actress had gone into cardiac arrest and could not be revived on Sunday morning. She apparently died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Brittany Murphy has been long suspected of excessive use of drugs. She had been the subject of widespread speculation that she had a drug abuse problem. Brittany was even the subject of a parody sketch on a recent Saturday Night Live Weekend Update recently.
Brittany Murphy was born in Atlanta, Georgia and started acting in regional theater at age 9. Her first roles were on TV series such as Murphy Brown and Parker Lewis Can't Lose, which led to her breakthrough film, 1995's Clueless. She had five movies currently in production. She has been named to both FHM's 10 Sexiest Women List, and Maxim's Hot 100. In late 2002, she dated Ashton Kutcher, with who she co-starred in the film Just Married.
Brittany Murphy is just another tragic soul who let fame, fortune and all its spoils get the best of them. For example we recently at just 29 years old lost Australian actor Heath Ledger. The actor overdosed on a combination of OxyContin, Vicodin, Xanax, Valium and Restoril. In addition, there was Anna Nicole Smith's February 8, 2007 death that caused by a prescription medication "cocktail" mostly containing sleep medication. A most recently there was Michael Jackson who was found to have Valium, Lorazepam and Midazolam in his system when he died.
This is a frustrating rant towards those individuals who feel it is their duty to explore the excesses of fame. Human life is sacred. Abusing that life is not only a crime it’s inhuman to do so. I have much sympathy for Brittney Murphy’s family. I wish I could feel that same sympathy for her.
