"If people hear that you set a record, they're like, 'Oh my gosh, that's awesome,' " Rodriguez said. "But if they knew you were competing against girls, they wouldn't have as much respect for you."
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/19/sports...Duh?! The ultimate in political stupidity... boys competing on a girls team, winning and displacing girls on the winners podium... does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? Seriously?
Will Higgins and Anthony Rodriguez compete on the Norwood High Girls Team in Massachusetts... this sort of thing has been done since the 80's, but until now it hasn't been much of a news maker... that was until the boys became winners and removed the girls from their own winners podium. "Equality" or not... somethings just can't be legislated into logic!
Sarah Hooper says... "It's really frustrating to see how athletic directors and school administrators aren't doing anything," she said. "They really aren't advocating for us. I understand there isn't an opportunity for these boys, but it infuriates me that they can't combine two schools' boys to create one team or have them compete in separate heats. The way it is now, the boys are taking recognition away from girls who have worked hard and deserve it... basically, because I feel it is totally inappropriate for boys who are bigger and stronger to be competing against girls.""
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/19/sports...It is not so bad when it is just kids-stuff and older youth competitions aren't in consideration, but as youth get older and inherent male/female differences play a major role, it is time to compete separately. It is cases like this that makes me want to yell every time I hear about political correctness, and gender neutrality or is it neuterability... SERIOUSLY SHUT UP !:]
