Blogger needs to get with the program

For the past month, I've had many issues with making comments in blogspot blogs. The blogs I used to visit & comment on frequently suddenly were unavailable to me to say my piece. Instead of a box I could place a cursor in & type, I got a blank white box of emptiness.

In fact, I couldn't even comment in my OWN blog anymore. Grrrr....

I tried everything, from updating all my browser add-ons (java, flash, etc) to testing out various browsers. I changed cookie & security settings & nothing worked.

When I ran a quick search online about this, I found that MANY have had this issue & that it has been ongoing for several years. Years! I mean, come on blogger....get a clue.

Wondering if this issue was on blogger's end & not mine, I decided to go into my own blog & test a theory. I changed the comment settings to "Full Page" & reloaded my blog. Wala....I was able to comment with no issue.

So...do you have a blog with very few comments? Want to ensure that ALL of your visitors can comment no matter what browser they are using? Try this fix:

Log into blogger, then go to Settings, then Comments.
Under "Comment Form Placement" change your settings to "Full Page" rather than use their default of "Embedded Post Below" and then reload your blog to test it out. Hopefully you will be taken to a new page & see a comment box you can type in.

But it saddens me to have to rely on bloggers to know to make this change, when really, they shouldn't have to. Blogger should have fixed this by now. At the very least, make "Full Page" the default option for commenting rather than embedding it into the page, which clearly has some bugs attached.

Blogger...get with the program already!
