Dear Bill,
I hope this rant finds you snug and warm wherever you may be.
Today I opened my Outlook for the 1st time on this computer as I'm starting a home business.
It opened fast and no problems. Except I live in Costa Rica and the person that installed the software gave me a Spanish version of outlook. So I thought no big deal, change it back to English. After 20 minutes of searching the web I found out how to do it. So I start and then I find out, the Outlook software is an illegal copy. Bill, do you know what that means? That means I need to risk my computer and search warez sites to try and find a key. I thought it's better I don't, and find another solution as I'm a little short on cash right now.
The search took me 5 minutes to find a replacement for Outlook. I found this software called Thunderbird. Bill have you every heard of the Thunderbird email client? Just in case you haven't, it works a lot like your product but it's free. Also there seems to be a lot of people that work on this software to improve it by providing plug in's. I think they call it open source software.
Anyway after the install I had to make sure it checked my spelling as I speel very bad.
It took me 5 minutes to install the plug in and guess what Bill, no this version is illegal pop up.
So after sitting back and thinking about this, free software, free updates, no virus problems and it's free!I then looked for more free software, guess what Bill? I found open office! I must admit the spread sheets may take some time to get used to, but I took a few months to learn yours and I'll be more than happy to give these guys a try out. By the way Bill I'm typing this letter to you in open office also, do you see the difference? I sure don't, all the letter's look the same, just some things on the toolbar are different. Oh Bill, did I mention that I can save this file in any of your software formats? So I can send it to my friends in their format so they don't have to download the free software to see my letters.
Bill, I will try and keep this secret between us, so not a lot of other people download the open source stuff, this would be bad for your pocket book Bill. So for now lets keep it on the low low, like that time you we're driving through New Mexico with the "Puff Puff give."
Besides I wouldn't worry, nobody else is going to download that free stuff when they can get the same type of software from you at a nice price.
So Bill ,to my idea. Why don't you make your software open source and give it away? Heck if you want, you could even go over to Goggle and make an adsense account and put the ads in your software. It's real easy to do, I can fly up and show you if you want. It would only take 15 min of your time.
How it works Bill, is you put ads on your software and every time someone clicks and ad you get paid from $0.05 to $10.00 bucks a click! You could make Quadrillion's doing this. Much more than you make now I'm sure.
Bill if your software is open source it makes it much better, everyone can make those nice little plug in's to update your software and this way you don't have to worry anymore about coming up with a new name for windows every other year. Also you will be able to slap that guy from apple, who is mean to you in your commercials. What a meanie he is!
By the way Bill ole buddy, the next time your in Costa Rica, stop by and so we can hang out a few. We can leave the wives at home and make it boys night.
One last thing before I go Bill, have you every heard of the Mozilla browser? Seems like a few people are using it on the internet now. I get about a 40% hit rate of Mozilla on my site savemoneyoncoffee.com but I would not worry about it Bill, it will take years before they over take your product.
Regards,
CrBob
