Nicolosi: "trauma makes homosexual"

"...ban anyone under age 18 from receiving sexual-orientation change efforts (SOCE). It would also require adults seeking SOCE to first sign a statement warning that that SOCE is "unlikely to be effective," could be harmful, and is not recommended by mental health professional groups... The "changeability" of homosexual orientation is a hot-button issue because arguments about gay rights and marriage stand on the legal assertion that sexual orientation is generally inborn and immutable. Many gay-rights organizations and activists revile SOCE and reject the idea that there are "ex-gays.""

"Nicolosi: After 35 years of investigation, they still have not discovered the Gay gene. After 36 years since the APA dropped its diagnosis of Homosexuality and during that period of time, no credible child developmental model has emerged, to explain the homosexual condition without traumatizing the child. In other words, that fact remains that if you traumatize a child in a particular way you will create a homosexual condition. If you do not traumatize a child, he will be heterosexual. If you do not traumatize a child in a particular way, he will be heterosexual. The nature of that trauma is an early attachment break during the bonding phase with the father."

Here is my "take" on all this... if therapy for the gay condition doesn't work, why is there such a push for the indoctrination of youths on the subject in school? To rephrase, it seems that only strait to gay indoctrination, and gay recruitment "therapy" is legal, and not the other way around. It could be that this whole ban on sexual-orientation change efforts may shoot the inceptionists "in the foot!"

I say take all the sexual "education" out of the school, and let kids find their own orientation and attraction, without State bullying tactics forcing a State-Religious sexual pseudo-norm on children. It would appear that heterosexualism is being banned, not just any therapy of conversion to it. IF all "therapy" and indoctrination, or orientation to sexual preference was excluded from the curriculum, students could get a decent education, and possibly learn something. As it is, students leave school without education... rather the particular State prescribed orientation!

What About Gays Needs to Change? It may not be what you think!

The Kinsey Scale:
0 Exclusively heterosexual
1 Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual
2 Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3 Equally heterosexual and homosexual
4 Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5 Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual
6 Exclusively homosexual
X Asexual

Kinsey found that 46% of males had found other males attractive or engaged in sex with other males. This may be because of situational conditions for example strictly male or female schools or prisons where there is little alternative.

Some of it is definitely genetic and there is a genetic difference (XXY YYZ. X XXY YYZ etc.) There may also be genes within the "standard" that switch sexual persuasion so that there are XX males or XY females.

Then there is the environmental influence. The most common type of herbicide atrazine changes sex of fish frogs and mammals. http://www.atrazinelovers.com/m1.html

Then there is the sociological aspects. Men are such a-holes that after being beaten and raped repeatedly many women may prefer the company of other women.

So the danger of Pavlovian conditioning to train people to behave as hetrosexuals even though they might have various reasons for having different sexual orientations is that there can be significant psychological damage done. Much more than simply letting nature take it's course.

"the danger of Pavlovian conditioning to train people to behave as hetrosexuals even though they might have various reasons for having different sexual orientations is that there can be significant psychological damage done"

...SO what about the damage that is being done by society/schools conditioning this generation training people to behave as homosexuals even though they might have various reasons for having different sexual orientations... like their natural sex?
12 months ago: Altruist you also said... "Much more than simply letting nature take it's course" ...REALLY? Now how are you going to reconcile your Darwinian gospel with that... I thought you guys were of the whole "survival of the fittest" group?
12 months ago: It boils my blood to hear gay rights activist as they denounce gay to straight or active and happy bisexuals. If sexual orientation is inborn then it stands to reason that there isn't a clear line between preference and that experimentation will lead a person to a better understanding of their sexual appetite.

This would conclude that an unhappy homosexual might seek out satisfaction in heterosexual encounters in much the same way as an unhappy heterosexual might seek out satisfaction in homosexual encounters. And if a once heterosexual appearing person could now enjoy same sex relations then what is so absurd about a once homosexual appearing person to now enjoy the opposite sex?

The contradiction is not coincidental. Pro-gay initiatives are about forcing gay culture on the masses in the guise of sound medicine. It is hypocritical, fascist and very much dangerous.

There are studies that suggest that the Xq28 link may be one part of the genetic code that determines sexual preference but Congress doesn't want to give any funding to determine this definitely.

"Whether or not a gay gene, a set of gay genes, or some other biological mechanism is ever found, one thing is clear: The environment a child grows up in has nothing to do with what makes most gay men gay. Two of the most convincing studies have proved conclusively that sexual orientation in men has a genetic cause." http://discovermagazine.com/2007/jun/bor...

There are no Pro-Gay initiatives forcing gay culture on the masses. There are only people who want to have the same basic rights and freedoms that everyone else is afforded and that are guaranteed in the constitution. Religious bigotry and homophobia are not a viable basis for denying basic human rights.

Allowing gay people to live their lives does not harm or influence in any way the relationships of straight people. The only damage done is the harm inflicted on gay people by the hateful behavior of the homophobes, and the damage done by parents to their children who are duped by charlatans to allow their children to be tortured in the futile belief that they can change their child's sexual preferences.
12 months ago: Altruist you say... "there is no evidence that gay to straight therapy works and a lot of evidence that it does harm" ...yet when evidence is produced you call it biased, religious, or just ignore it. DJ is right (can't believe I said that) but the whole thing against bisexuality is hypocritical, because it doesn't fit the "box" the "scientists" have allotted for the textbooks... and also the fact is pro-gays bully ex-gays!
12 months ago: "pro-gays bully ex-gays!"

That's a fact. Folks who turn away from that lifestyle are ridiculed, scandalized and harassed because they have left the cult.

If someone wants to remain in a self-made bondage or live in confusion, let them be. That's their option and their choice. As long as they don't lobby for normalization or expect everyone to fall in lock-step, leave them alone.

However, when folks escape and turn their lifestyle around from what was a living hell, leave them alone too.
12 months ago: Sex is like food. We need it to survive but there is nothing to stop us from putting things in our body that just don't belong there. Heck in both cases people enjoy self-abuse. How many people avoid veggies and go for the greasy cheese burger instead? Is it inborn? Can it be prevented? Should we all die of coronary heart disease because it is culturally acceptable? If you want to release your sexual tensions in a way that is not conducive to natural physiological processes then that's your choice but don't crap on someone who is tired of living an unfulfilled sex life! Yes fat people can lose weight and stay skinny. Is it difficult? Yes! But does that mean that they should give up being skinny and go back to being fat? There are former gay people! Would they back slide? Only if they want to, and that is the point, it is their choice to do so, not PFLAG's or GLSBT police.
