Asheville, the Cesspool of Sin

A group of antediluvian representatives and senators in North Carolina are so consumed with absolutely, completely, once and for all making it forever impossible for gay marriage to be legal in North Carolina, it is a ridiculous commentary on our democratic system under which all men are created equal.

Senator Jim Forrester has called my liberal, democratic and welcoming City, Asheville, NC, a Cesspool of Sin where homosexuals "get up to mischief." I am NOT making this up. This is 2011. It is too late to hope these knuckle dragging morons will ever wake up, but what they fail to realize is that what they are attempting is simply not possible. They can no more wave their self-righteous wands and turn gay into straight than they can turn themselves into forward thinking liberals. What is so frightening? Who cares who marries whom? In short, what is the point?? Why all the waste of resources and time and energy on something that should be a non-issue. Get Over It. Move On.

The Cesspool is in Senator Forrester's mind and nowhere else. What mischief is he taking about? Is your gay neighbor going to break in and put up new drapes while you are out of town? If these dimwits would spend as much time trying to figure out a way to educate children and prevent teenage pregnancy as they do trying to limit the rights of their fellow citizens, then they would actually be doing the work they were elected to do.

My hope for Senator Forrester is that his wife leaves him for another woman and that his son shows up for Christmas dinner in drag. What a jerk.

8 months ago: You are missing the point.

Jesus said a man shall marry a woman.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Your business in none of my business.
8 months ago: Jowiliams,

You say "democratic" ...isn't that the part where the majority get what they want? SO if you don't get what you want... and that is not in agreement with the majority... you call them "knuckle dragging morons" ...Mmmm, you would rather that we were not democratic? That's exactly what the gay agenda is about.

8 months ago: The purpose of the constitution is to protect the minorities from the tyrany of the majority.

The knuckle dragging morons wrap themselves in the flag and enshrine the Constitution complain that their rights and freedoms are being taken away, and declare themselves the bastions of morality, but they are the first to take away freedom and rights of those they disagree with. They want to strip citizenship from those who were born in the country who's parents were not. They are the ones that want to overturn the constitution because it does not allow them to persecute those they hate. They rail against Big government intruding in their lives but they want to dictate what can and cannot go on in the bedroom.

This administration is still upholding the DOMA but are refusing to defend it because it is clearly unconstitutional. Any law that discriminates against anyone for purely religious reasons is clearly a violation of the separation of church and state, and the Constitution guarantees the same rights and freedoms to ALL people (now that we have the 14th & 16th amendments) regardless of race, sex, religious beliefs or lack thereof, and sexual preferences.

Fortunately the knuckle draggers are in the minority and becoming less popular with time. The young are more tolerant and less bigoted. http://www.gallup.com/poll/147662/First-...

Look at the trend lines in the link above and you will see that the homophobes days are numbered.

Conservatives opposed rights for the common people, for minorities, and for women. They have consistently been on the wrong side of history.
8 months ago: No Al.

We're just trying to teach our children that you cannot pick and chose what rules Jesus taught us to follow.

Quit yelling "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!"

We really do not care.
8 months ago: You obviously care. Otherwise, you would let others live their lives in peace and quit trying to take away their rights as citizens. If you believe in heaven and retribution, why not let those you deem to be sinners get their punishment from God rather than from you, who, unless I am mistaken are only one of all God's creatures and loved equally, mo more no less, than a gay hairdresser.
8 months ago: Holy Cow Jo!.

You are a liberal/socialist/marxist/statist JUST LIKE AL.

You make things up and refuse to listen.

Let's try again.

Homosexuals HAVE NEVER had the right to marry other homosexuals. There is no right to take away!

Plus, E V E R Y B O D Y, E V E R Y P E R S O N (EVER) I S A SINNER. It makes NO DIFFERENCE if you or anybody is a homosexual. We are all sinners. Period.

It makes no difference to me if you marry your VW Bug with pretty yellow flower on the dash board. None whatsoever. Have at it.

What I object to is you wanting me to applaud and pat you on the back.

IT AIN'T ALL ABOUT YOU.

Focus please.
8 months ago: I have a few words: New York and Massachusetts. Get with the program, Red. Check out the Sunday Styles section of the New York Times. See those photos of two men or two women getting married? Equal rights. .. you may have heard about those?
8 months ago: Al,

For your information, I couldn't care less what happens in someones bedroom... but when your "minorities" wrap themselves in a misuse of the constitution and force a gay education on kids in schools... that is a miscarriage of justice! School should not be a platform for anyone's sexual agenda... hetro or homo... and develop learning skills to make it in this world. All this sexualization is political and religious brainwashing! Teach the kids to write, calculate and communicate.

8 months ago: Cigarettes, fast food, seat belts, fire retardant pajamas, health insurance, all regulated by the knucle dragging morons.

Right or wrong?
8 months ago: I can only comment on the knuckle dragging morons who make ridiculous statements about an entire community, naming it "A Cesspool of Sin.". Asheville, NC, a town consistently on lists of Best Places to Live, Best Places to Retire, etc. probably has about as much sin as anyplace else but the restaurants are better, there are more salons, and the lawns are better kept as the gay population keeps the rest of us on our toes.
