During August, unemployment rate in U.S. remained unchanged. It's interesting to note how major news outlets presented this news. 9.1% unemployment rate is not something that you could be proud of, but still, it isn't something to be shunned aside.

Well, according to NY Times home page, the major news of the day is that Port Jervis train repair will take months to complete. While I sympathize with 2,300 commuters on Port Jervis line, I am sure that the news that impacts entire nation could maybe earn priority. As an afterthought, NY Times does mention that expected 60,000 jobs were not created in August. Same importance was also given to the news that some Republicans whine and complain that President maybe shouldn't abuse the system and ask to give speech at the same time when GOP debate was scheduled.

At the same time, FOX News prominently displays that this is the weakest jobs report since September 2010 and that it clearly shows that the Obama administration must change course. For FOX, it seems that no other news is news worthy!

Meanwhile, The White House official blog urges people not to read too much into any one monthly jobs report and provides remarkable solution to the issue. The White House says that "faster growth is needed to replace the jobs lost in the downturn." If I didn't read that, I really wouldn't know how easy it is to solve the unemployment in U.S.

It seams that "bipartisan" is the only word that is totally unknown in today's media outlets. The rift between the parties has grown so big that nobody can make the system work as it should - jointly! Meanwhile, U.S. is looking at the next big recession and hoping it will not turn into Great Depression II.

Good luck America, wherever you are...

8 months ago: The Obama Administration has announced that we should expect it to remain above 9 percent into 2012. Yep. Those Trillions of your tax dollars he spent really paid off.
8 months ago: Black Americans...er...uh....African Americans have an unemployment rate over 16%.

If Obama had not jiggled the numbers and reduced the available workforce, unemployment would be at almost 12%.

Respecting "nobody can make the system work", I beg to differ. After Sarah Palin, or Herman Cain or ..... is elected President and the Fair Tax is passed, watch out. Everything will be fixed just fine....until another liberal is elected.

The Supply Side Economics that hasn't worked for the last 13 years have written all of the chronically unemployed off. They have condemned them to lives of crime or dependence on welfare.

Today the news about jobs was bad. Now we have seen what happens with the austerity programs the Republicans have forced on the country. Zero jobs created. There were 17,000 private sector jobs created but 17,000 public sector jobs lost because of budget cutbacks.

The Republicans with their debt limit fiasco has intentionally destroyed confidence in the economy and their intransigence and refusal to consider any revenue sources got our credit downgraded. That has reduced demand, and all of the companies have said they won't hire or expand until there is more demand.

We need to stimulate the economy to create demand by getting more money to the poor and middle class. We need to do exactly opposite what the Republicans say we should do.

The only way to help the chronically unemployed is through programs like Jan Schakowsky's bill to help the chronically unemployed and the 99r's and in the process create 2.1 million jobs. http://schakowsky.house.gov/index.php?op...

It is apparent liberals don't have a clue about economics.

Austerity programs? 4,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.00 in debt? Huh?

17,000 public sector jobs lost because of budget cutbacks? That's not enough.

Again Al. IT AIN'T YOUR MONEY.

You are stealing people's money.

For crying out loud.
8 months ago: 17,000 government jobs is nothing. Much bigger problem, that some people are trying desperately to hide is that Information industry lost 48,000 and Manufacturing 3,000 employees.

When 1 out of 15 people works for the government, there is no progress...
