I'm sure most of you have heard already that AT&T has purchased T-Mobile for blah blah billions of dollars. Yet, you may not know that they are basically in the business of screwing their customers.

I have been an iPhone customer (at $130 PER MONTH) since December. What a nightmare.

I have terrible reception all over even though I live a stones throw from the city. Which, I am assuming, is why AT&T has bought up T-Mobile. But wait, my story gets better!

I also get calls that are dropped, don't go through, and the like. Nothing like Sprint (they were wonderful, oh why did it switch?!). The most annoying thing is sometimes I make a call and then I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me. Weirdest thing ever.

None of this compares to today. Today I finally decided to stop the harassing/threatening phone calls from my psychotic ex. I called customer care and was told that in order to stop being harassed, I would need to pay an additional $5 per month in order to block this chick. You would think my $130 per month bill would have a couple perks in it somewhere.

You know, Verizon lets you block crazy peoples' numbers for free.

Moral of the story is, even if you love the iPhone and want it so terribly badly, don't do it. This is what they want! Every month, just go to the bank and take out 130 $1 bills. Then go home and into your bathroom. At this point procede to flush each one down the toilet, i'll bet your toilet does a better job with those than AT&T does with calls/customer service. At the end of it all you will feel like less of a moron.

I tried AT&T also, hated it, coverage was less than adequate. I lived just outside the city, and service was never over one bar. Didn't fare much better with Sprint, but Alltel (now Verizon) was great.

Luckily though, we have a regional carrier, Cellular South, that gives all the bells and whistles, and 3g, but no roaming, for $60.00/month. I've been all over the four surrounding states, and haven't hit a dead spot yet.

14 months ago: See, I should do that, but then there is the pesky business of an early termination fee...
14 months ago: I currently pay that amount for 2 iphone plans. I think your doing something wrong. I have the lower limit cap because most of my downloads come while I'm within range of a wifi.

As far as call blocking and nickle and diming your absolutely correct. But its really a non issue since you still have a choice....

For awhile :)
14 months ago: Had ATT and HATED it!!! Paid over $100 a month for a Blackberry. Switched to T-Mobile for $80 a month... Then yesterday went to Metro for $50 a month for a Android with unlimited Talk Text and Data.

14 months ago: I pay Sprint $130/month for 4 separate lines all with unlimited: minutes, text (including pic and video), internet, email...everything.

They also have the best phones on the market: Evo4G, EvoShift4G, Epic and now they are getting the Nexus-S.

13 months ago: I had two AT&T family cell phones for about 7 years. I switched to two prepaid phones and have no problem with high fees or having to deal with AT&T any longer. $20 a month with 700 minutes and roll over, and you can get it lower than that. I didn't need the high costs of AT&T, and this works well. Avoid contracts and early termination fees. Serves its purpose. I didn't need anything fancy on the phones.
