On the night of March 1st 1998 my life changed forever. A knock of the door with 2 Police Officers telling me that my wife and 5 year old son had been killed in a car accident by a drunk driver. The force of the accident was so bad that my son was decapitated and died instantly. I don't remember the days that followed. The funeral was a blur. I remember 2 caskets and flowers. My life was over.
In the weeks and months that followed I grew stronger everyday thanks to great friends and family. I had been in the military and was a airline pilot. I knew I wanted to change my life and make something positive out of a horrible accident. I decided I wanted to go into health care and help others. I quit my job at the airlines and entered the best nursing school in Boston. I am now proud to say I am a Flight RN and work for Hospice.
While I am completely heterosexual I have nothing against gays or lesbians. Anyone with education realizes that being gay is not a choice.
Yesterday a 99er from Wayne New Jersey bashed me and posted my family "was better off in heaven" because I am a RN and "gay". It is no surprise to me why this person can not find a job. In this world you reap what you sow.
I fully intend to stay on this site and voice my opinion. I will fight the hatred that some of you have. All I ask is that you don't attack my dead family. That isn't fair Mr Hammer. You will not scare me away.
Remember I am the one who cares for your loved ones while they are in horrible pain or even worse dying. I have comforted many people as they take their last gasps of air. I am proud of what I do.
While I have received a huge settlement and could easily retire to an exotic location I choose to continue to help others. I am proud of what I do and will never stop.
To the guy from Wayne New Jersey losing my family has made me strong. Much Stronger then you. Keep the insults coming. I am not going anywhere.
