99ers See Red - "O"Bom(bast)a In De Nile - Tier 5 Now!

99ers are growing more irate and impatient each day as we suffer needlessly while billions of our tax dollars are freely given to foreign dictators, overpaid American politicians and wasteful pork encrusted projects around the globe. The lies fed to us by shameless leaders are adding fuel to a fire that is burning brighter daily.

It is obvious from recent televised addresses that President "O"Bom(bast)a is swimming in the blood red waters of de Nile.

Out of one side of his mouth he is praising the Egyptian people for peacefully removing a tyrant that threw them into a ditch 30 years ago. Out of the other side of his mouth he is authorizing the casting of 99ers into a ditch here in America.

Make up your mind, President "O"Bom(bast)a. Do you approve or disapprove of genocide? Why are you condemning tyrannical oppression in other nations, but condoning it here in the United States? Do you even realize that you are doing to 99ers what Mubarak did to the Egyptian people?

It's not too late to make the right choice - help all Americans by immediately passing a retroactive Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits extension for 99ers.

By doing so you will save millions of lives and America's reputation as a First World country.

Why don't the American 99er's show the same passion? Oh sure we send a couple of emails to our House and Senate members, but the messages are simply blocked. We place calls to the same Congress people and a 20 year intern runs interference. We start a blog, or two, or three, but no one reads them except other 99er's. We can sit back and do nothing and that's exactly what will happen, nothing. Sure we want a Tier 5, but are we willing to protest or take action for it? Probably not, THAT WOULD TAKE AN EFFORT. Why should Congress listen to us, we're not doing anything. No major network has picked up on our story, nor placed us in the homes of American's nightly. We are absolutely no threat to the government what so ever. We continue to allow the Department of Labor to report their concocted unemployment reports and sit back and say "oh well, what can I do"? Depending on who's report you read there's anywhere from 1 to 15 million 99er's. Many 99er's out there helped to form the non-violent protest movements, the love-in's, or the sitting in's. I AM NOT SUGGESTING VIOLENCE HERE, but why haven't 99er's packed the National Mall in D.C.? Let's show America exactly how many there are of us. Shatter the government's unemployment numbers. If we continue to take the same measures we are taking now, we are going to get the same results we have now. Nothing. The 99er's biggest problem . . . getting up from our comfort zone and taking action!

It's been a long winter to be without and to endure stress and humiliation. If the Gov. doesn't listen to people in a civil manner, then they never will, and I don't really expect them to. It's going to have to be the younger generation of people to stand up and fight for their future and their rights. Most of us protested during our time when we could do it. They got us backed into a corner at this point, and they know it. We need a hero and for the kids to get involved and to care more. I don't think they know yet the full impact of what is going on right now, and how it will affect them.

15 months ago: PD I agree with you. I don't believe, though, if they pass that Bill that it will be retroactive. They are trying to get the 14 weeks passed and that will be by the skin of their teeth if it does pass. I don't know why everyone is so mad at the 99ers when the Government originally approved and passed these Tiers. We had nothing to do with it. According to the Gov. it was needed. I'm sure there are those that take advantage of a system just like everything else, but that is the way it is in almost everything. It has nothing to do with others that are in need of this Bill. I guess it is human nature to kick people when they are down. My hope too is that it is passed before other things happen and there becomes a point of no return for our Country.

Not a single thing since Tuesday. Obviously, it didn't go anywhere, but does anyone know anything specific about what happened Wednesday? Do we still have a shot on March 4th?

I have yet to read ONE post from you that was sensible. You complain, put other people down who need help too, and talk a nice circular line.

You show zero respect for the President while begging him for money. I think you embody the word hypocrite.

In fact, YOU were the first person who put disdain in my mouth for the term 99ers. And that sucks. I know that there are long term unemployed people who are hurting. I don't know that it's you though. If so, your fellow 99ers should ask you to quit being a mouthpiece because you are doing nothing but marring the term 99er.

Do you know why I wrote the piece on entitlement? Because I read too many of your posts.

I don't get you. Yet I do. You write controversial titles for views. I'm not giving you any more. You're not paid for views, fyi. I'm still not reading you because it's negativity that is leading people in the wrong direction. You have never once offered a solution, even when I asked.

The thing that sucks is that the people who are commented in support of what you're saying are unfortunately making themselves guilty by association. When I post something like this it gets turned around that I'm so super insensitive, some rich kid, or some other crap that people have thrown at me.

None of that is true. I've said all along I support the people getting help, but not just the 99ers. Not people who are demanding and disrespectful like you've been.

To other 99ers - this isn't a slam on you. It's the way the Dinary does it. I have written some posts fully supporting and offering tips, job sites, etc., but few take it seriously. I do have an issue w/PD though.
15 months ago: Kevin Kelly,

On the one hand, you are very right - 99ers have not officially united as a group and are not being accurately counted. We need to unite and peacefully present our case to our fellow American citizens. Perhaps they do not understand the predicament we are in.

On the other hand, you are slightly wrong - true 99ers have no "comfort zone" to get up from. Sleeping on friends' couches or in our family's basements yields little solace or deep REM sleep.

Keep the faith - we will figure this out.

The Cypress Gang,

Your comment hit the nail on the head. 99ers are deathly afraid of FEMA camps, and local jails, and federal penitentiaries, and charges of sedition and subsequent executions.

The success of the recent Egyptian revolution relied heavily on the Egyptian military and police refusing to fight the protestors. Many Egyptian soldiers supposedly threatened to take off their uniforms and join the protest.

In America (specifically D.C.), protests as were seen in Cairo would be instantly crushed by brute military force. I am unaware of any significant discontent among American military.

As demonstrated by your constant verbal attacks on 99ers, even peaceful protests are no longer tolerated in the United States.

sunny2,

You are so right. The daily struggle for survival amongst economically strangled 99ers leaves very little energy for organized protests.

Most of us are lucky to even feed ourselves. Modern life has left most American urbanites either legally restricted from or lacking the knowledge to produce their own food on any realistic level.

Americans are completely dependent on the cash system to obtain food through purchased groceries. No money = no food.

Hang in there - I know we will make it through this.

scoochmom,

The media blackout regarding 99ers was most likely orchestrated to efface the work of anyone who is attempting to prevent Holocaust 2011 in America.

Out of sight is out of mind.

Alex_,

Please read this aloud: If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

It helps people to see your more positive attributes.

You will catch more bees with honey, than with vinegar. I promise.

Sure, I am a 99er, and I don't like to this situation, but I never once have been without a job in the past and when I was, I went back to school. I just want to be an American woman, the girl next door who grew up believing in family and Country knowing what a great gift that it is and never taking it for granted. I wish more of you guys would just support each other. We all would help one another on a battlefield and this battle on the home front is no different. I'm happy to be an American and know that we can achieve our goals no matter what gets in our way. For example, I don't think bringing up insults like who has food and who doesn't gets us any where. I do get mad sometimes and I'm the first to admit it, but when it comes down to it, we are all Americans and each one of us are important and count.

15 months ago: Cypress my experience working with different people in the past that have grown up with war history as part of their culture was that they feared that times like Hitler's regime would come back. I heard this from a young person I was working with at the time, and I couldn't fathom it then, but it is very clear now. I remember knowing neighbors tattooed with with war camp numbers and feeling their pain when they expressed themselves to me. Of course we have fears, it has been embedded in everyone, especially at this time when there appears not to be Government support of the people. We don't have a good picture of our future and where we are headed in the next few years. It is frightening.
15 months ago: sunny2,

When we help our family, friends and neighbors, we are really helping ourselves.

No man is an island.

If we all stick together, we will all make it through this storm.

15 months ago: Phrunes,

You are absolutely correct.

Unemployment benefits are actually insurance payments paid in recompense for accidental, nation-wide financial catastrophes beyond anyone's control.

99ers want Tier 5 Unemployment Benefits in the same way that auto accident victims want their medical bills paid.

15 months ago: Phrunes and PD I had the same problem when my job was outsourced. By the time I received my 401K, I was behind in everything. I had to live off of my 40aK at that time because I could only find a job for 1 day a week which didn't pay the rent. When I asked for more hours, after a couple a months they gave it to me, but then let me go because of the younger cheaters. They knew how to look good by cheating on the job while others earned their right to have the job. There I was again living off the money that was to give me a fresh start. That's a financial castrophe because how do you start over when all that time has past. It is impossible. Even now they are delaying UI benefits and saving money letting the people pay for it with hardship and they live off the fat of the land. Incredible.

14 months ago: Thank you, PD. I guess there are reasons for everything. I had to sell and give up a lot of things. They are just material. The most important things I did manage to hold onto because they hold a future. This is a struggle for all of us to get back on the band wagon again. I hope people can figure out that are fortunate to be working that all our lives are at stake. Sunny
