"Section 329 of the Elections Act was established 70 years ago so voters in Western Canada would not be influenced by news on national radio that certain parties were ahead in the polls. So far, Elections Canada says it will uphold the law, which operates on a complaints-based system. Elections Canada officials say they will not monitor Twitter on election night, but will investigate any reported complaints and lay fines against those they feel have broken the law."
http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/04/21/...Apparently anyone caught publishing results of the Eastern Canadian votes before they are cast in the West... can receive a fine of $25,000 ...Elections Canada says it will uphold the law although it will not be monitoring Twitter. Any fines will be as a result of an investigation on a complaint basis. What this law is in place to protect, is the influencing of a Western vote based on the sentiment in the East. IF an undecided voter sees the tide of votes going to a candidate that they least favor...
...it may persuade the contrary.
This is a real response to the "Social Media Canadian Election" Press...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RE7ILsqu...I think that it is good to have a vote that is impartial as can be, without the manipulation of any media... I would favor a total media blackout. I mean we are kept in the dark about everything after we vote in our dictators. Why this comes to mind is the voting years back when Gore won in Florida... er Bush won in Florida... you know what I mean. Well, those things don't happen up here in Canada anyway... there seems to be more interest in Hockey than matters of National leadership.
That being said, I don't want to harp on any one to vote for Stephen Harper. Harping on the subject just makes me a harpper... so I will just play my harp and quietly protest the US HAARP testing, being done on Canadian Liberals and NDPrs who smoke dope.
